When you hear this Gospel outside of the Easter season, are you more aware of what the Eucharist means to us? In what ways does the Eucharist influence your faith life? 2. When Jesus sends the disciples out to find a place for the Passover, does it seem strange that the master of the house is ready and prepared for the Teacher? Are you ready for the Teacher to enter into your house? 3. Is the Eucharist a major part of your worship or just an ac-on that is part of the Mass? Do we take the Eucharist for granted? Sellersburg/Speed Food Pantry Needs: Drink Mixes & Sugar Holy Father s June Prayer Intenon: Universal: Social Networks That social networks may work towards that inclusiveness which respects others for their differences. Get yours today! Dear Friends, On the Feast of Pentecost, the great birthday of the Church, I asked parishioners to stand if they felt that the Holy Spirit had really been moving in their lives in the last year or two. It was amazing to me to see how many people stood! It is truly a sign that God is on the move here at St. John Paul II Parish. However, I am not content to let down our guard or decrease our emphasis on our mission. I am pleased to announce that our parish has made applica-on to join the Divine Renovaon Network, a network of parishes across the United States and Canada that are working hard to move from maintenance to mission. Let me explain that a li:le bit. In his book, Divine Renova-on: Moving Your Parish from Maintenance to Mission, Fr. James Mallon posits that too oien in our Church today we focus on the wrong things. We focus on the things that benefit our parishioners rather than the things that form them as disciples. He con-nues that if we want to stem the decline of the Church, we need to reverse that trend and really spend a lot of our energies forming disciples for ministry. In doing that (forming disciples) we will, at the same -me a:ract new disciples. That is fulfilling the mission entrusted to us by our God and that is also moving our parish from maintenance to mission. That is why the exercise of my homily was so important. It helps us see that God is on the move in our parish. The first reading that we used on the Feast of Pentecost came from Ezekiel. It spoke of the dry bones coming to life. I have witnessed our parish coming to life over the last several years. Working within the Divine Renovaon Network, I believe that will happen in ways that right now I can t even imagine. I had a parishioner tell me the other day that her neighbors started coming back to Church aier hearing about some of the stuff happening in our parish. God is on the move! I had a young man (high school age) drop me a note saying that he is excited to be a part of St. John Paul II Parish. God is on the move! Over 300 parishioners a:ended each night of our recent parish mission. God is on the move! One of our parishioners just shared with me how she had been on a mission trip to an Indian reserva-on in New Mexico and how excited she was to see what she can do right here in Sellersburg to share her faith. Indeed, God is on the move! I hope God is on the move in your life as well. May the Spirit of Pentecost touch your lives and show you the way that God is on the move in your life and in the life of our Chris-an community! In Christ s Love, Fr. Tom Clegg Pastor
