How much do you concern yourself with HOW the plant seeds grow? Do you pat yourself on the back when you harvest a bounful crop? Did you ever think to thank God for that harvest? 2. Do parables help you understand some of Jesus messages? In what ways do these two parables speak to you and help you get the message? 3. Why does the Gospel writer tell us about the last line? How does this relate to us? Are we the people who can only understand parables or are we disciples who had the Gospel explained to us? Sellersburg/Speed Food Pantry Needs: Li(le Debbie-type Snack Treats The monthly Rosary for Healing will not meet in June due to Father s Day. Please join us next month, Sunday, July 15, 2018 at 6:30pm at the St. Joe Hill. There are no Masses at St. John Paul II on June due to Father Tom a>ending the Priesthood Convocaon. "I know well the plans I have for you" says the Lord, "Plans for your welfare and not your woe...plans so as to give you a future full of hope." Jeremiah 29:11 This bible verse is so fi/ng for the St. John Paul II Parish that Father Tom has it appear under his signature on all of his s. It portrays an important message that we trust that the many changes and addions that have taken place over the past few years at our parish are the result of God leading us where he wants us to go. Whether it is a smaller thing like a three-night parish mission, or a large undertaking such as merging two parishes, or building a new worship space, they are all steps in our parish s journey filled with a future full of hope. I believe Jeremiah 29:11 verse also applies to a large ministry of the parish the school. As I work this summer, the building is quieter. This quiet me allows not only for a lot to be accomplished, but also me to reflect on the many changes and addions in the school that have added to its success in recent years. Whether it is a smaller thing like each class compleng an outreach project, or the larger task of implemenng a high quality middle school program, we are guided by God calling us to make disciples through the work of the school. This spring and the first few weeks of summer I have really felt that God s hand has guided faculty and staff members to us. Mrs. Cindy s replacement, Mrs. Carla, is such a great fit! She is working hard to be ready for Mrs. Cindy s rerement in August. Our new elementary teachers are in place. They are both parishioners with a lot of teaching experience to share. We will soon be filling the other posions from the wonderful candidates that are eager to be a part of JPII. (This may have already taken place by the me this le>er appears in the bullen.) Another thing that has reinforced that the school s work is aligned with God s plan for us to grow disciples is that the school s enrollment has surpassed expectaons. New students connue to find their way to JPII! We look forward to serving more than 260 K-8 students in just a few short weeks! There are so many posive things coming together so nicely for JPII Catholic School! So, as much as Jeremiah 29:11 seems fi/ng, so does this pop-culture quote I love it when a plan comes together. (I risk dang myself with this quote from the A Team TV series, but it is now a popular meme and gif.) JPII Catholic School is poised to face the school year with a large group of amazing students and a dedicated group of faculty and staff members who can t wait to see what God has in store for us next our welfare, and not our woe. Go Beyond Sunday: Stewardship of our Talents Spiritual Gis Course The Servant Song asks the ques(on, What do you want of me Lord? Where do you want me to serve you? A service opportunity is available for middle and high school youth (and adults, too!) to assist at VBS. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up, VBS ac(vi(es, and clean-up. The volunteer mee(ng is Monday, June 25th at 6:15pm. VBS is held June from 6:30-8pm. All ac(vi(es take place on the St. Joe Hill Campus in the Ac(vity Center. Vocaons News Welcome our newest priest in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, Father Jeffrey Dufresne who was ordained on June 2, 2018 at SS. Peter and Paul Cathedral. Catholics across the United States are encouraged to pray and act in support of religious liberty at home and abroad during Serving Others in God's Love: Religious Freedom Week 2018, which begins on June 22, the Feast of SS. Thomas More and John Fisher, and ends on June 29, the Solemnity of SS. Peter and Paul. The chairman of the USCCB's Commi8ee for Religious Liberty, Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz of Louisville, states: "Religious freedom allows the space for people of faith to serve others in God's love in ministries like educaon, adopon and foster care, health care, and migraon and refugee services. We encourage people of faith to reflect on the importance of religious freedom so that we might have the space to carry out our mission of service and mercy, and we invite everyone to pray for our brothers and sisters who face intense persecuon in other parts of the world." 7 Sacraments & Sacramental Preparation Baptisms: Typically celebrated at weekend Masses. A Baptism Preparation Session is required for parents. The next session is August 5, 2018 immediately following the 11:15 Mass at the St. Paul. Confessions: Available Friday mornings at 11:15am at the St. Joe Hill and Saturdays at 4:15pm at the St. Paul. You may also contact Fr. Tom at to schedule an appointment. Marriage: Please contact Fr. Tom at at least six months prior to planned wedding date. The marriage preparation process will be explained at that time. Anointing of the Sick: If you are aware of an upcoming medical event for which you would like this sacrament, you may contact Fr.
