Sellersburg/Speed Hamburger & Tuna Helper-Type meals Welcome to St. John Paul II Catholic Church New Parishioners: Patricia Ballard William (III) and Molly Pfund Ma= Baird Jessica Hamm Upcoming Holiday Schedules: Wednesday, November 21 7:00pm Sellersburg Ecumenical Calvary Chrisan Church Fr. Tom presiding Thursday, November 22 9:00am Mass St. Paul December 24 (Christmas Eve): 4pm St. Paul 6pm St. Joe Hill December 25 (Christmas): 12am St. Joe Hill 10am St. Paul This weekend we observe Veteran s Day. In 1918 World War I ended with the signing of an Armisce agreement between the Allied Countries and Germany in Compiegne, France. This agreement was signed on November 11 at 11:00am. This was the 11 th hour of the 11 th day of the 11 th month. A3er the horror of World War I this agreement was to be The War to end all Wars. As we know that war was only the beginning of many wars that plague our world even to this day. Many of our parish members have served in these wars, some losing their lives in defense of our country. We honor all of these veterans this weekend and thank them for their selfless service. This weekend take a few moments to offer a prayer for each of these service men and women who served in wars past and those who are serving today. This week two of the readings are about widows. As a widow myself I associate with these readings. Unlike these widows I have been blessed with the means to have a life in which I do not suffer in the ways of the widows in Jesus me. Besides a loving family and the blessing of my daughter, I found friends in my parish who have become family and have supported me in good mes and bad. We o3en refer to our St. John Paul II parish as our parish family. Some people feel this is a trite statement but for me it is a living, breathing reality. When I come to Mass or any church meeng, Bible study, or social occasion I am with family. I have been a member of this parish for 44 years. I have seen the children of this parish grow up, marry. I see their children in our school, pre school and at Mass. I can recognize these children because they look so much like their parents. Their visible faith expressed in our church is the 3 rd or 4 th generaon I have grown to love. My 44 years makes me a newby as many in our parish have faith roots that go back many generaons. Walking through the cemetery, the family names are the same ones listed in our Ministry volunteers to this day. That deep rooted faith lives on in our parish. JPII remains full of that deep faith begun over 100 years ago by immigrant families seeking a brighter future. With them came their faith and dedicaon to our loving God. With your prayers and love of St. John Paul II Parish the future holds great things. May God connue to bless our Parish Family! Dolores Snyder

Perhaps you have old pictures or other items lying around the house that depict a friar, or friars working in the parish? The Province Archives of the Province of Our Lady of Consola'on would love to have them! The Archives Office of the Province would be willing to take such items. A note a9ached to the items explaining dates, people involved, etc. would be greatly appreciated. They may be sent to: Province Archives 101 St. Anthony Drive Mt. St. Francis, IN or e mailed to: oldarchives@franciscansusa.org For the past 16 years our parish has made an annual trip to take donated toys to Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Campton, KY. Several sisters run the mission services and distribute Christmas toys to families in this impoverished Appalachian area. Our Monthly Outreach also provides some financial aid to the parish as they sponsor services to families all year long. In last year s le9er, Sr. Susan Marie Pleiss, OFS told of the increased number of families in need. The store served over 144 families a 50% increase from the prior year. We are happy to be part of this outreach again this season. We are collec'ng new, unwrapped toys for children ages newborn 13. The unwrapped toys may be brought to either the St. Paul or St. Joe Hill beginning through November 23. The toys will be delivered to Campton on November 24 so they can be offered in a Christmas Shop to families with children. As always, bless you for bringing Christmas to Campton again this year! 6 Building God s Kingdom by growing disciples & making disciples through love of God & neighbor. Hands Across Hai Annual Fund Drive This month the St. John Paul II Hai/ Commi0ee is looking for financial support for our sister parish through the Hands Across Hai/ Annual Fund Drive Because of the generosity of a donor to do this mailing, 100% of the dollars you donate to the fund provide direct aid to the people of Hai/. In past years, we have helped our sister parish add classrooms to their school, pay teachers salaries, replace a leaky roof on the church, build a bell tower, provide secondary and University educa- /on to 64 students, and lunches for the students. We invite all parishioners to consider a gi: of $25 to this fund. Even if you already sponsor a student, any dona/on would be extremely helpful to us as we assist them.
