I tried it but ended up failing to get one thing done on the list. Then one day I read an encouraging quote by St. Francis who would tell the other friars: Let us begin again, brothers, for up until now, we have done little or nothing. I love that. Paul wrote, Brothers, I do not count myself to have attained, but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press towards the goal to the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 3: Leaving failures behind and pressing forward is key, but it means that there is some work to be expected. God is calling us to grow (mature) spiritually and that takes practice and Grace. Start with saying YES to Him and NO to self. Yes, to forgiving others. Yes, to prayer. Yes, to Mass every week. Look forward to a new year with true joy, knowing that God has a plan for your life and that He will give you the tools you need to climb the hill of Holiness to press forward and forget what is behind! Begin a new year: I encourage you to try one of the great Catholic Study programs this year. Starting Jan 8 th is Conversion -- Following the Call of Christ presented by Word on Fire; Bishop Robert Barron. He illuminates six biblical stories of conversion, demonstrating how six ordinary people, just like you, were met by Jesus where they were and called to a better life through him. The common theme in each story is the turning of all one's attention and energy toward an ever deeper, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. or text me that you would like to register for this program. 5 From Msgr. Frank Chiodo My Dear Friends, I will be away on retreat from Jan. 2nd through Jan. 11th. Here is prayer that I would like to share with you. O Lord, author of all time, before the world was made you existed, and out of love for us, you created the world and gave us life. We praise and thank you for the gift of life, and the grace of being recipients of the bounty of your creation. Lord, as the years roll by and we observe the changing seasons not only in nature but in our lives, grant us the grace to embrace each moment as a gift. The people you have sent into our lives are blessings, and for whatever amount of time you choose to give us here on earth, help us never to squander, or devalue the preciousness of each moment, shared with those we love. We lift up before you and place near to your merciful heart our loved ones. Grant them light where there is darkness, peace where there is unrest, harmony where there is division, healing where there is disease, and joy where there is sadness. Help us, O Heavenly Father, to be filled anew with your Holy Spirit, which brings us peace beyond all understanding. O Lord of time Eternal One draw St. Anthony s parish and all of its members into the heart of your Son, where there is only, light, healing, joy, serenity, and peace. In Jesus name we pray.
