Refreshments will be served in the Parish Centre after the recital. ALL WELCOME Any donations, to offset the Parish debt, would be much appreciated. LEGION OF MARY HOSTEL COLLECTION The Legion of Mary Annual Church Door Collection will take place on the weekend of 30th/31st May 2015 The Hostels rely on this source of income to continue and improve their service to the homeless and disadvantaged

3 3 PAGE 3 ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT Extension of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will commence Friday 5 th June and every Friday thereafter, 8.00AM TO 8.00PM in the Meeting Room at St Matthias s Church A speaker will talk at each mass this weekend 23 th and 24 th May in all three churches. Question: What qualification do you need in order to be on the parish team for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament? Answer: One hour at your disposal and a willing heart. To inaugurate our extended weekly FRIDAY Eucharistic Adoration, a Special Prayer Service, INCLUDING Benediction, will TAKE PLACE at 7.00 p.m. on Friday 29 th May in St Matthias s Church. Please join us to celebrate THIS NEW COMMITMENT TO PRAYER IN OUR PARISH. A COMMITMENT THAT IS SURE TO BRING US MANY BLESSINGS FROM THE LORD During this year since the 500 th birth of St. Teresa of Jesus we honour her well when we focus on the Eucharist and the meaning of the Christ present with us. For St. Teresa of Avila, Christ present in the Eucharist is with us in a way that surpasses all other forms of His Presence. Teresa was in no doubt that the Presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament was a powerful source of healing; spiritual healing, emotional healing, healing of relationships and physical healing. Holy Communion was a source of strength and intimacy. Speaking about receiving the Body of Christ in Holy Communion during the celebration of the Eucharist she says ; Now then, if when He went about in the world the mere touch of His robes cured the sick, why doubt, if we have faith, that miracles will be worked while He is within us and that He will give what we ask of Him, since he is in our house? (St. Teresa of Avila in The Way of Perfection). Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is a continuation of what we celebrate in the Mass, the Eucharist and stimulates our awareness of the marvellous and loving presence of Christ and is an invitation to spiritual communion with Him.

4 4 PAGE 4 The ALPHA Course In a Catholic Context The Alpha course is used by thousands of Catholic parishes in over 70 countries around the world IT IS HERE NOW in our parish. It is the start of a journey towards Christ. It is an invitation to us all to respond to the good news through a decision to follow our Christian faith through a series of talks and discussions, in which you have an opportunity to participate. It is an effective initial presentation of the core of the Gospel the Kerygma, it is a reaching out to all, it is a new start for some to others a step on their faith journey. Hannahstown Sunday, 31 st May at 3 pm - Mass will be celebrated in the grounds of St Joseph s Cemetery, followed by the Blessing of the Graves. St Peter s, the Rock Sunday, 7 th June at 3 pm - prayers and blessing of graves. Annual Pilgrimage and Mass on St Patrick s Mountain, Saul will take place on Sunday 14 th June at 3.00pm. Bishop Noel Treanor will be the Celebrant.

All first time parents ought to attend a baptism meeting before their child's baptism. Baptism enquiries should be made to the parish office eight weeks before due baptism date. Please book a date for the Baptism meeting before booking a date for your child s Baptism. Godparents are also encouraged to attend the Baptism meeting with the parents. 6 6 PAGE 6 Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland is hosting a special evening of music and song with The Priests. The classical music trio The Priests will present a special fundraising concert in St Patrick s RC Cathedral, Armagh on Friday 29 th May The evening will celebrate the hope that local people have helped Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland build over the last 21 years. CELEBRATING THE YEAR OF ST COLUMBANUS Diocesan Pilgrimage to Luxeuil, Bregenz, St Gallen & Bobbio To mark the Year of St Columbanus, Bishop Noel Treanor will lead a Diocesan Pilgrimage to sites associated with St Columbanus - Luxeuil, Bregenz, St Gallen and Bobbio 24 th -31 st August.
