1 St. Germain Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club Celebrating Snowmobiling Since 1969! Volume Number 4 November 2016 President s Message Ozzie Ausloos Fall is my 2 nd favorite time of year besides winter. I love the colors and the cool weather, however there are some things that fall brings that are not necessarily my favorite things to do. In spring if you don t get some projects done around the house and lake, no problem tomorrow will work. But, in fall you can t postpone getting the boat and pier out of the lake. Picking up the leaves and needles is also a task that can t be put off. Our club also has projects that can t be put off, for instance we drive the trails with our New Holland tractor and do the brushing of the trail. Steve is also out riding our trails and updating the informational signs and checking for any sign vandalism. Our annual brushing day where we have members ride the trails to make sure the signs are visible is also a fall task. The feeling of getting these projects done in preparation for the winter is really satisfying and because of this hard work you can rest assured the winter will proceed without problems. With this thought in mind bring on the cold and snow. Ozzie Jim From your Club Officers, Board of Directors & Support Staff Tom C. Beth & Jeff Dianne Paul Thank you to those who supported us by sponsoring the new Welcome to St. Germain Bo-Boen Trail Signs Don-Rick Insurance Eric Lewison Baraboo, WI The Twilight Bar & Grill Tara Pulec Marc & Kay Davison Family Brad Popurella McNabb, IL The Glass Family Ride Safe Jeff Glass Lake Geneva, WI Dennis Dieter Family Dennis & Dianne Dieter Walt s Petroleum Service Joanna Beggs Plainfield, WI Gary & Kay Schultz Pomerenke Family Keith Pomerenke Richfield, WI Paul s Rent-All Paul Bohnen St. Germain Chamber Penny Wiesmann St. Germain Rental Ron Rhodes Jeff & Ruth Grimm Congerville, WI Ewald s Whispering Pines Lodge Jeff Ewald Arrowhead Groomers Dave Walker James & Jackie Gandrey Oswego, IL Dukes Italian Beef Bill Humphrey Bridgeview, IL Badger Glass Chad Birrenkott Baraboo, WI

Proceeds will be used for grooming expenses incurred throughout the year in maintaining our 100+ miles of Bo-Boen trails.
3 Our Trail Brushing Crew 2016 Trail Boss Jim Wendt We were able to avoid the heavy rains for our brushing day and the 31 folks who made the commitment to help did a great job! It wasn't real bad and a lot of very necessary work was done. I want to personally thank everyone who came out on a not so great day. We were treated to a social gathering at The New Twilight Bar & Grill that evening and everyone had a great time. Thanks go out to Tara Pulec for providing a great time with pizza and beverages for all our brushers. Pizzas were donated by Joe & Debbie Reid from Spang s. Tara made a donation to the club to show her appreciation for our trail work during the season at the end of the evening. We are so blessed to have businesses like Tara and Joe s who go the extra mile to help the club whenever possible. Everything leading up to our opening is going smoothly. Machine brushing is on schedule and the trails look great. We will be having our drivers meeting mid-november all leading up to opening right after deer hunting season is over. It s not long to go now... be sure to get your trail passes early so you will be ready. Happy Trails, Jim Al Clemmensen and Jim Wendt have been tail brushing with the Rhino Hydraulic Boom Rotary Cutter to get those higher up branches that when loaded with snow hang over the trail preventing snow from falling on the trail and hitting our groomers. Secretary s Report Fall is definitely upon us. While the colors of the summer flowers are gone, the autumn colors are spectacular. Along with the fall colors, we are having much cooler temperatures which is fine by me. It won t be too long and there will be snow in the forecast. Now is the time to get ready for the new season renew your club membership, send in for your trail pass, get your sled in running condition and start practicing your favorite snow dance. Less than 2 months and the trails will be open. On October 11th, we had our membership dinner with 61 members in attendance. A big thank you to Sue Wagner of Pub n Prime for the great dinner. Despite the fact that she has two broken ankles and a broken bone in her foot, she managed to put out great dinners for all of us. Thanks again! Kay Schultz

Link: WI DNR TRAIL PASS INFO is almost here and the memberships are coming in like crazy, keep them coming, to date Jeff and I have processed 630 renewals which includes 20 new members to our club. All I can say is WOW!! How great would it be if we could hit an alltime high of over 1,050 club memberships this year? All we need are those 408 members who have not had time to send in their memberships!! Last season s memberships expire on November 15 th, so if you haven t yet renewed, now is the time to send in your dues. This will also be your last newsletter if you don t renew by the 15th. Please click on the link above called Club Memberships and this will take you to our membership page on our website to renew now! If you have any questions please feel free to contact us anytime, our info is above in the right hand corner. Jeff and I will be on vacation in Florida visiting our daughter for 2 weeks starting November 15 th and returning on the 30 th, so please do what you can to get your renewals into us as soon as possible. I would like to get them processed so you can order your trail passes and have them before the trails open in December. The donations have been pouring in this year. Whether you send $5 or $200 it all goes towards helping the club out with either equipment or general fund needs. A BIG THANK YOU from all of us for your generosity! We are up to date as of 10/18/16 with the already submitted renewals. As always if you have any questions or need your AWSC number, please do not hesitate to call us at or anytime at boboenmembership@gmail.com. Your AWSC membership number can also be found on the mailing label of the Wisconsin Snowmobile News magazine, the official publication of the AWSC and your yellow membership card.

Kevin & Deb Harvey (Harv s Vacation Rentals) recently went to the 2016 Milwaukee Snow Show at the State Fair Park in Milwaukee to promote snowmobiling in St. Germain. Students can obtain a DNR Customer ID# from St. Germain Sport Marine during business hours or by calling between 7 am to 10 pm. You can also visit a Wisconsin DNR Service Center during their regular scheduled hours. For additional DNR Service Center hours and locations go to and click on the Contact US tab located at the top. The Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club s Snowmobile Safety Education Class will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 27 & 28, Anyone 11-1/2 years of age or older is eligible to take the class and receive a safety education certificate; however, the certificate does not become valid until the child reaches 12 years of age. The Apple Dumpling Gang is a group of good looking men (mostly retired, but a few are still working) who snowmobile together every Wednesday during the season. This is an informal group so there are no dues or duties. On Wednesdays they leave from the groomer barn at 9 AM sharp. All you have to do is show up. Socializing is usually available there starting at 8:15 AM. There is a contribution for each ride to cover the cost of the drinks and lunch for that day. The group also has a Kick-off dinner in November, a 3-day Overnighter Trip, a Potato Pancake Breakfast in mid-winter, and Brunch to end the season in March. Why not come ride with them?
