1 WISCONSIN RIVER WOODCARVERS INC NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER, 2017 On November 8, 2017 at 7:00 pm, Vice President, Clark Snyder called the Wisconsin River Woodcarvers Inc. to order. The Club met at The First Congregational United Church of Christ at nd Street in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Last month meetings newsletter was read by Secretary Sophie Kubisiak. Clark asked if there were any changes to the minutes, No changes. Dick Fleisner made a motion to accept meetings as read and Diane Swiggum second. All in favor. There were 25 members present. FINANCIAL REPORT deleted for web version. SUNSHINE REPORT If an immediate family member passes away, or a member is in the hospital, please contact Marion O Kray at or ron.marion@charter.net. Get well cards were sent to Linda Reas, Lindacarol Bunge, Judy Cody, Greg Wirtz and Sue Petterson. Sympathy cards to Al & Sue Pilsl on the loss of Al s Sister, and to Bill & Jordis Jacobs on the loss of Jordis Father. Deepest sympathy and hope everyone is feeling better. OLD BUSINESS John Engler Seminar is scheduled for September 10, 11,12, 13, The seminar will be held at the Lincoln Center in Stevens Point from 8:30 to 5:30 P.M. Registration forms are enclosed. CHRISTMAS PARTY is on Wednesday, January 10,2018 at Smiley s Banquet Hall in Plover,Wi. Forms are enclosed, we only have 12 people so far signed up to go. NEW BUSINESS Sophie made a motion for 2018 show to the Club again to do a lamp as we had this year and the also a Nativity set. Bill Day 2 nd. All in favor. Ron has some cut-outs for these, winter will be long so get them done so Ron can get them back done by June 1 st, Ron also has Magnetic signs for 2018 show for $5.00, Also club patches for $5.00 At the present time we have (114) Memberships paid for in 2017 and (22) for The latest new members are Jim and Thelma Van Norman, 740 Airline Road, Plover, Wi They are married 48 years, have 3 grown sons and 5 grandchildren..jim worked 23 years at SIRCO making office furniture. He is the founding and current Pastor Chapel in Plover, Wi. Welcome to the club. The planning for the 2018 SHOW is ongoing. The dates for the 2018 Show are September 15 & 16, We have (56) tables paid for already. Chet James was chosen by a unanimous decision to be the Featured Carver in We have the show flyers printed and ready for you to hand out.. Early Bird registration forms are available

2 and enclosed. Magnetic signs for your car advertising the 2018 Show are available from Ron O Kray for a fee of $5.00. The planning for the 2019 SHOW has started. The Caricature Carvers of America will be coming back as our Featured Carvers. The Club Summer picnic will be the second Wednesday in July [ July 11,2018 ] more information later. There will be NO club carving, in Wisconsin Rapids the night before Thanksgiving (Nov. 22, 2017). Today s door prizes were given by Chet James. Thank you Chet. December 13,2017 is meeting night, election of Officers also.

5 WISCONSIN RIVER WOODCARVERS JOHN ENGLER SEMINAR John Engler of Battlefield, MO will be conducting a (3) day woodcarving class and a (1) day painting class. John has been carving full time since he graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a BFA degree. He is very active in teaching relief carving and water color painting throughout the U.S. Check out his website John needs minimum of (12) students and maximum of (14) students for carving and (10) students maximum for painting.
