Volume Number 10 April 2015 Presidents Message Bob Ozzie Ausloos I want to begin my first President s message by thanking the nominating committee for their confidence in me to perform as President of the largest snowmobile club in the state. I will give it my best and I hope I live up to their expectations. I am writing this message on the last day of snowmobiling in Vilas and Oneida counties. We sure had a great season. I hope you all had a chance to ride the trails this year, which leads me to another Thank You to Jim Wendt and his grooming crew! Wow, these guys know how to work the snow. With the limited amount of snow somehow they managed to keep our trails the best in the area. If you see any of the guys offer them a thank you, and if you are planning to be in the area on August 30th sign up for the Drive with the Groomer Driver s Golf Outing. If you can t make it to the outing and would like to donate a door prize or sponsor a hole kindly give John Vojta or Mike Osborne a call, look for more information in this newsletter. One more Thank You should be given to Tom Christensen his service as president this past year and also to Paul Bohnen, Milt Klingsporn, and Al Clemmensen for their past service on our board of directors, thanks for everything you have done. I hope you will still be around to help out, we do appreciate your efforts. This being the last newsletter of the season remember we have several events throughout the summer, make sure to save the Calendar of Events and plan on participating at these events, we have fun all year round! A special thank you to Bauer s Dam for selling an exceptional amount of over $1,000 worth of tickets again. Winning tickets were drawn at our last membership meeting on March 10th. It sounds like this years fund raising efforts are the highest amount raised since this fundraiser for the clubs was started. Please continue to support those businesses that support our club. Print & Quilt Raffle The winners of the Don Kloetzke Print donated by Don Baumann and Snow Daze Quilt donated by Judy Pacanowski were drawn at our dinner meeting on March 10th. 3 Trail Boss Jim Wendt This season turned out to be a really successful one for the community and our club. We had some weird snow patterns but ones that allowed us to have great trails right up to the abrupt end. The fact that the lower part of the state did not even open in many counties should have a positive effect on the pro rate for supplemental grooming. Sources within the Governors Council suggest it could be very close to 100%...which means more money toward the grooming costs for our 52 miles of funded trail. It was a very good year. There are many "thank you s" to go around this year. First of all, my great staff of drivers. We had some very cold nights, disruptive staffing issues, and very heavy traffic loads to put up with. I can say we never missed a beat and handled everything very well. This seasons driver staff was: Tom Marks, Jay Pritzel, Mike McCormick, John Vojta, Shaun Savel, Matt Verseman, Mike Osborne, Steve Hausner, Mike Kijowski, Kelly Newton, Jim Swenson, Jim Wendt, Doug Coda, and Ken Cutler. To you men and your families, "thanks" for you efforts, sacrifices, and commitment to the best program in the state! Track Inc., Lulich Implement, Woodland Auto, CarQuest Auto Parts, Walker Equipment, Olson Mfg., Knitt s Hardware, Eliason Lumber and Camp s Sentry Foods all provided parts, repairs, service, supplies, and support to our organization for which we are sincerely grateful. All the club members, sponsors, and supporters who donated to our equipment fund...thank you for recognizing the need for keeping our equipment updated and providing the best trails in the state. All the volunteers who helped at events to provide necessary operating capital for the club. I send my sincere thank you, to my trusted signmaster, Steve Soltwedel and his sidekick Ozzie Ausloos... "Thank you guys" for keeping our trail system the benchmark for trail signing in the North! Countless riders benefit from their work by making sled travel enjoyable and safe throughout our system. NO ONE DOES IT BETTER! I hope everyone has an enjoyable off season. We look forward to doing it again next year. Happy Trails, Jim Secretary s Report THANK YOU! This is the time of year when some thanks are in order. First, thanks for your support in re-electing me as your secretary. You know what they say third times a charm. Next as your dinner planner thanks to all of the people who were gracious enough to host one of our membership dinners. They were Pub N Prime, Knocker s Pizza Co., 19 th Hole, Whitetail Inn, Clearview Supper Club, Sportsmen s Chalet and Golden Pines. It was a pleasure working with all of you! As your secretary, I would like to thank the board members for enduring my computer inadequacies (although I am getting a little better) and for all their hard work at keeping our club the biggest and the best in the state. Of course, many of our events would not be the success that they are without the great group of people that volunteer. We couldn t do it without you! Another shout out to Pam Gebhardt for her great work on our newsletter and the many things she does to make my job easier. Lastly, on a very personal note, both Gary and I would like to thank our snowmobile family for their help, support, thoughts, prayers, care and concern during Gary s recent health issues. It proved to us that our club is a tight knit group and is more like family than just friends. Thanks to all of you!!! Have a great summer! Kay Schultz Classic Sled Round Up The Snowmobile Hall of Fame is a fun event every year at the St. Germain Community Park. The date is Sunday, May 24, 2015, of Memorial Day weekend. The Bo-Boen s will again be running the food tent. We are looking for volunteers to help. This being on a weekend is a great time for the out of towners to help out and a real opportunity to meet other members. If you can help serve food, be a cashier, grill some brats and burgers give me a call. The hours of the event are 7:00 am for registration and the awards are at 3:00 pm so we will work 2 shifts so as not to use up your whole day. Check out their website for more details. I would also like to find a chairman or co-chairs to oversee this, Steve Soltwedel our food service guru will have all of the food ordered and a set of instructions will be given to the chair people so please give me a call or send me an to volunteer. This is a good fundraiser for us plus the Hall of Fame really appreciates our help. Groomer Show Oversight We had an oversight in the last newsletter. We served some fantastic chili at the Groomer Show and it sold like hot cakes, well not quite like hot cakes, more like soup. But anyway it was a big seller for us and we appreciated getting the chili donated by 3 C s Café and the New Twilight Bar & Grill. Thanks for your support.

The weather was great, the crowd turnout was superb, several records were broken for money and speed. I would like to take this opportunity to give a big THANK YOU to all of the volunteers that helped in traffic and parking and also in crowd control for the Bikini Run.
