I trust you will enjoy the photos. Thank you to Mrs Pearce and the Primary team for organising this event. This week we have finally switched over all of our classrooms to our Off-Grid - Solar/Battery Renewable Energy System. The carpark lighting and the digital sign are the next to light up. This has been planned for next week. A goal of the College from the very first day of opening last year was to operate off-grid with clean renewable energy. We really are a future focused College and a model for schools of the future. I certainly will not be missing the switching on and off of generators and the emergency fuel runs! We are holding an official Solar Power Off-Grid Launch event on the first Friday back next term Friday 12 th October. We will have some VIP guests and the media are certainly interested in capturing this future-focused moment in the College s history. Overcoming Giants We all have experienced mountains in our lives. Situations that seem impossible to overcome. I believe these become opportunities to exercise faith. After arriving in the wilderness of Paran, God commanded Moses to send out 12 spies (one from each of the tribes of Israel) to the land of Canaan, the land God had promised the Israelites when He led them the out of slavery from Egypt. After 40 days, the 12 spies returned and brought back a report of the land that they had just scouted out. Ten spies brought back a negative report. This was their report to Moses: We entered the land you sent us to explore, and it is indeed a bountiful country a land flowing with milk and honey, but the people living there are powerful, and their towns are large and fortified. We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak!. Numbers 13:27-28 They chose to focus on the size of the enemy they found there, rather than on the promise that God had given, that the land would be theirs. Two of the spies Caleb and Joshua brought back faith-filled reports: And if the Lord is pleased with us, He will bring us safely into that land and give it to us..don t be afraid of the people of the land. They are only helpless prey to us! They have no protection, but the Lord is with us! Don t be afraid of them! Numbers 14: 8-9 Caleb and Joshua were so confident in the promise God had given to them, that the size of the enemy almost seemed insignificant to them. They knew God had promised this land to them and they knew that God was with them, which would have led to their victory. We too, when faced with problems the size of mountains, can take courage in knowing that God is with us and that we are not alone. 3 Deafening excitement and melodious laughter is what filled the arena at Latitude. Jumping higher and higher until your knees buckle or your stomach turns was the order of the day. How much fun can one child have? Well, at Latitude it seems to be endless. Our excursion to this amazing facility was much appreciated by all from Year 4 to Year 10. A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful P&F who kindly sponsored $10 toward the entry price of each student. It was a wonderful and memorable experience.

5 Jumping castle, giant jenga, giant connect four, kite building, Lego, brekkie and a wonderful word of encouragement from Mr Donaldson! These were the highlights from our Father s Day celebration on Friday. Fathers and kids alike had a marvellous time and revelled in the special moments they spent together. Good times with good people!

6 HOW TO GET INVOLVED 1) Collect shoebox from school 2) Girl or boy? Decide whether you will pack a box for a girl or a boy, and the age category. 3) Fill with gifts Select a medium to large wow item such as a soccer ball with pump or stuffed animal, then fill with other fun toys, hygiene items, and school supplies. 4) Pray Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive your gift. You can also include a personal note and photo. 5) Follow the box labels Include a $10 donation for shipping and project costs. Receive a tracking label to follow your box and discover the destination of your shoebox. 6) Return your completed box to the school office

7 Hi to all CHURCH NOTICE We want to invite you to visit us again this Sunday at Atlantis Beach Baptist College for our fortnightly fellowship. As usual our DVD study starts at 9:30, but feel free to join us from 9:00 for meet & greet and worship. There is a change in the air and it is not only the seasons that are changing. Our current series of Jesus the Game changer is coming to an end soon. We look forward to the transition into a different format on a Sunday 23 September. It looks like you have well and truly settled in already! Chips and Chat for secondary girls is held each Tuesday at Recess with Miss Gregoriadis in Room 3. Students are encouraged to discuss anything that may be on their minds with their peers, raise any issues or concerns and of course have a laugh, all over a bowl of chips. Request For Donations Dear Parents and Guardians If you/your child happen to have spare dress up costumes, hats, shoes and props that are in good clean condition please consider donating them to ABBC to help us build up our drama resources. The Parents and Friends main role is to support the school community in fundraising activities and to be a contact whereby parents can get involved and serve the college in various ways to enhance college life. Dear Parents and Guardians Last Friday the P&F organised a Fathers Day stall where the children were able to buy a small gift for their loved one to show their love and appreciation for all that they do. It was great to see so many families help support this event, so we thank you for this and hope you continue to support us again in the future. In total the P&F were able to raise an amount of $ on this day. THURSDAY 20th SEPTEMBER Subway lunches will be provided on the last day of term in lieu of the normal menu. Orders and money are due in by Wednesday morning. Subway menu and order form will be sent to families. Entertainment Books The P&F are selling 2018/2019 Entertainment Memberships as a way of fundraising for ABBC to help raise money towards purchasing sport equipment for our children. Not only would you be helping our school when you purchase one of these books, but you will also be saving yourself big money on lots of amazing attractions, retailers, restaurants etc. The Membership costs $70.00 and is valid until 1 st June, 2019 so there is still plenty of time to get a good bargain.
