2 Dear Members and Friends of Trinity, Do you remember your confirmation? Were you excited or nervous or both? Did your family and friends gather to celebrate with you? It doesn't matter how many years it's been, we have all made the same promise. Confirmed as a child or as an adult, we have all stood before our Lord and promised to remain faithful to Him for life. To always be faithful to the Lord we have probably all discovered is not an easy thing. As the years of life go by one realizes it's easier to make the promise than it is to carry it out. How thankful we can be as Christians to know that our Lord has faithfully kept all His promises to us. His love for each of us is forever. We are forgiven for all our failures. In this month of May when confirmation takes place here at Trinity, let us all recall our vow to be faithful to the Lord. May we all walk through life in a way that honors our Lord and gives glory to Him every step of the way. On another point and yet related, I would ask each of you to keep our eight young people being confirmed this month in your prayers. Pray that the Lord will be with them and guide them as they head off to High School next fall. Pray that they will remember the promises made at their confirmation and that worshiping each week and receiving the Body and Blood of the Savior in the Lord's Supper will have top priority in their life. Word and Sacrament alone strengthen faith and prepare us for eternal life. May God grant that we all recall our promises and grow together in our faith. Serving the Savior, Pastor Darrel Bergelin 2
3 And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight Acts 1:9. The ascension of Jesus was a marvelous event. This was the time when the resurrected Christ was raised upward into heaven right before the eyes of his disciples. Even today we confess this event in the Apostles Creed when we say, He ascended into heaven Yet, how many of us actually take time to think about the Ascension of Jesus? We celebrate and reflect upon Holy Week, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. We spend time for each of these days and rightly so. However, do we show the same devotion toward Ascension Thursday? Unfortunately, the day set aside to celebrate Christ s ascension has often been ignored or overlooked by many in the church. This is unfortunate because as our Lord went up to heaven, he offers us two great comforts. The first comfort is that as Jesus was taken upward to heaven, he assumed control over heaven and earth. Even now as you read this, Christ governs all things. With this in mind, you and I should be bold to pray to him. For whatever your circumstances in life, this Jesus is watching over you and cares for you. The second comfort that our ascended Lord offers us is that where Christ is now, one day you will be too. Elsewhere in the Gospels, speaking of heaven, Jesus told his disciples, I go to prepare a place for you that where I am you may be also (John 14:3). Yes, rest assured, where Jesus is now, he will take you to be with him forever. Amen. Your Servant in Christ, Vicar Adam Archer 3

You don t need to be a parent currently raising a teen to attend. Some of the topics she will be speaking on are: *teaching teens to problem-solve * communicating with teens modeling respect and responsibility *appropriate consequences and the giving (and removing) of privileges *using praise and reinforcement to build self-esteem and confidence There is a sign-up sheet on the table in the narthex. You may also register online at our website at by Clicking on the events tab and then the Darlene Mech tab. A Place of Refuge Ministries Life Walk, June 20, 2015 Please join us for this annual fundraiser supporting our ministry to women in a crisis pregnancy. Life walk is a family festival and 1.5 mile walk, held at River of Life Lutheran Church in Saukville, WI. Information sheets are on the table in the narthex. The month of May brings us yet another season of change. The April showers wake up all the plants and trees from the cold winter. May leads us into the warmer summer weather. There are fields and gardens to plant, grass to mow, and we all begin to spend more time outdoors in work and recreation. The one thing that does not change is our Lord and Savior. Hebrews 13:8 says Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever The Lords word to us does not change. His promises do not change. His act of sacrifice on our behalf does not change. His resurrection on Easter does not change. Our God is unchangeable. We hold fast to the unchangeable promises of God and stand sure of our salvation as forgiven children and heirs of the Lord. At the end of May we change to our Summer worship schedule. Let us remain steadfast and unchangeable to our dedication to worship and the Lords Supper regularly even with all the activities that the warmer weather brings. Dear Lord, we thank you for your unchangeable promises that guarantee our salvation. Blessed be your name forever. Amen! As Christians we are called to love and serve our neighbors (Gal.5:14). How can we at Trinity Lutheran be good neighbors? One way is by telling those around us what Trinity Lutheran has to offer them. For example, Trinity Lutheran offers Preschool, Vacation Bible School and even a special seminar about raising teenagers. But how will Howards Grove know about these events unless someone tells them? Would you like to be a part of this fun effort? Join us, as we spend the morning spreading the word around the village so that all of Howards Grove will know they have a good neighbor at Trinity Lutheran Church. This event will take place on Saturday, June 6 at 10 a.m. We will meet at the church. If you have any questions please contact Vicar Archer There is a sign-up sheet on the table in the narthex. 7
