3 Pastor Bergelin s Message Page Page 3 3 Pastor Darrel L. Bergelin Administrative Pastor Dear Members and Friends of Trinity, Will the weather ever turn warm? No one can argue the fact that many conversations so far in 2014 have revolved around the weather. I always find it interesting that so much talk is about an issue that no one is able to control. Make no mistake, I have talked about it plenty myself, but like everyone else I too am not able to do anything about it. I would propose that during the month of April we all have conversations about something that does have consequences for all of us. That being what our Lord did for us on Good Friday and the Resurrection on Easter morning. What each of us can do is tell someone else about the loving Savior. We can share with others that they to are loved by their Lord. We all know the familiar words of God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but will have everlasting life. April has Easter this year. Now is the time for all of us to talk about what the cross has accomplished. Talking about the weather changes nothing. It's just interesting talk. Talking about the Savior changes everything. It changes life for us on earth knowing that the Lord is at our side, and it can certainly change where a person will spend their future. Do you know someone who needs to hear or once again be reminded of what the Lord did for them on Good Friday and Easter. Then have a conversation with them with the same passion that you would talk about the weather. And then rest assured that such talk can change lives. It can change lives because the Holy Spirit can work through your words and create or strengthen faith in the heart. Only then can all have a Happy Easter celebration. 4 Page Page 44 Vicar Kuehl s Message Vicar Kuehl s Message But the angel said to the women, Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you. Matthew 28:5-7 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, He is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! These will be the words of proclamation from our lips later this month. And such wonderful words they are, for they tell of the joyful news we hear of at the scene of the empty tomb. The angel declared to the women at the tomb that Jesus is risen from the dead, just like He said He would. After they were told the good news, they went out and told that good news to others. Can you ever keep good news bottled up inside of you for long? News like maybe you re going to be a parent or grandparent. News like maybe you got a new job or bought a house. News like maybe you won a trip or some prize. Such news is hard to keep from not sharing. I m sure it was easy for the women at the empty tomb to share the good news with the disciples. As God s children, we have the greatest news of all to share as well: Jesus Christ died on the cross for us, forgiving our sins, and rose from the grave, defeating death and Satan for good. This news is so amazing, it shouldn t be hard to keep from sharing. As we approach Easter, I hope Christ remains our focus of attention, as He should always be. Let us pray that God would continue to guide and help us to tell others about the wonderful news of salvation we continuously hear proclaimed to us. Let us joyfully celebrate the Easter message of forgiveness and eternal life. And let us boldly proclaim, Christ is risen! For He is risen indeed! Alleluia! 5 Elders Elder s Corner/C.W.F. /News Page Page 5 5 Elders Corner for April 2014 As Easter approaches, we see God s plan for our redemption coming to completion. Our Lord wants all people to believe and be with Him in heaven. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 1 Timothy 2:4 God will have all men to be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth. However, He has given us the ability to reject the truths of Jesus and our salvation. We sinners tend to put our emphasis on ourselves, and not to trust our patient God and what He has done for us, in providing for us a place in heaven, by means of His Son s perfect life, suffering, death and resurrection. For this reason of the rejection of our Savior through our thoughts and actions, it makes it hard fur us sinners to wrap our minds around the fact that the Lord tests our beliefs and allows disasters and setbacks to occur in our lives. All these happenings are needed to reassure our thought that God is in control of our lives and not us sinners that are in control. Let us keep in mind that it is our sin that kept us from living in the perfect image of God. God allows trials in our life and works them for the spiritual benefit of our well being, which then leads to our eternity with Him in heaven. What a comfort to us when we realize that our loving Lord would not want evil to harm us. Psalm 121: 7 The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. Dear patient and loving Lord. Thank you for seeing us only through Your Son s work of redemption. Also help us to keep our thoughts and lives in accord with Your holy will. Amen.

7 Trinity News Page 7 A transfer to Faith Lutheran Church in Appleton, WI was granted to Walter and Valeria Rohde Trinity s Annual Spaghetti Supper will be held Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 3:30-7:00 p.m. Tickets are in your mailboxes. We are asking each family to sell 4 adult and 2 children tickets. Work shifts will be on Saturday, April 5 and on Sunday, April 6. Sign-up sheets are on the table in the narthex. As in past years we are asking for donations of baked goods. Please bring your baked goods in disposable containers. The Easter Breakfast is at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 20th. The menu is: French toast, scrambled eggs, sausages, pancakes, coffee, juice and milk. A special THANK YOU to Jim and Anne McCraw and Terry and Ann Parnitzke who are sponsoring the Easter Breakfast. A free will offering will be taken. All proceeds will go to Bibles for our preschool aged children. Spring is right around the corner. Soon we will be planting our gardens and flowers. Please consider Scrip for all your indoor and outdoor shopping needs. You can also get scrip cards for local and chain restaurants, grocery stores, department stores, hardware stores, home improvement stores, gas stations and so much more. Scrip is sold in the narthex before and after our Worship Services. 10 Page 10 Lutheran High Highlights Thank God for these talents! Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. 1 Corinthians 9:24 Band = 9, Boys Basketball = 16, Choir = 17, Boys Cross Country = 7, Girls Cross Country = 1, Forensics = 21 What do these numbers represent? Add them up and you will have the number (71) out of 171 students at Lutheran High who have qualified for a state level experience. Whether in athletics, music, or public speaking, Lutheran High has state -caliber students. Track? Golf Fast pitch? Girls Soccer? Baseball? What is next? The Lord has definitely blessed these individuals with gifts and talents. He also has instilled the work ethic in them to not only use their gifts, but refine them and perform at a championship level. I am so proud of them and their accomplishments. Thank God for the coaches and advisors who lead these young men and women. Praise God also for the parents, teachers, pastors, and friends who lead and encourage these students as well. The verse from Corinthians is a nice tie-in to winning earthly prizes; however, there is a much deeper meaning to this verse. The word run is a metaphor for living the Christian life. Verses 25 and 26 continue with, They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we do it for an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly. Training for no purpose will not produce the desired result, which is eternal life with God. God expects our very best, He expects us to honor Him and to put our complete trust in Him.

12 Page 12 Trinity News/SWD Mission News Trinity now offers electronic offerings. If you are interested in having your offerings electronically withdrawn, or would just like more information, please call or the church office. Our church grounds spring clean up is scheduled for Saturday, April 5 th, beginning at 8:30 a.m. A rain date is scheduled for Saturday, April 12 th. There are tasks for all ages. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Many hands make the job easier for all. Easter Lily orders are now being taken for church. Payment and order forms may be put in Judy (Lloyd) Luecke s box located in the Narthex. The price per plant is $8.00. The deadline to order is April 13 th. Checks may be made out to Trinity Altar Guild. Order forms are located on the table in the Narthex. Since 2009 Mission of Christ Lutheran Church has seen a large increase in the number of men visiting their congregation through contacts made while serving time at the County Correctional Facility- South (CCF-S; formerly the House of Correction). The SWD in partnership with the Metro Milwaukee Lutheran Mission Society has supported CCF-S Chaplains Afam Ikanih (also a vicar in the EIIT program) and Patrick Batom (who has completed 31 credits in the Lay Ministry program of Concordia University, Wisconsin). Both Patrick and Afam are members of Mission of Christ. Other men in this congregation who have completed the Lay Ministry classes include Darryl Winston and Herman Strozier. This congregation is regularly engaging its community with midweek Bible classes, food and clothing pantries and other services. Mission of Christ is prayerfully reviewing the status of its vacancy, and working with the District to determine the best way to provide pastoral leadership in a unique context.

Put these commandments into daily practice in your lives. 9- Pray for all of those who need comfort and support due to grieving or loss. 10- For inspiration, read John 3: Pray for a strengthening of faith. 12- Pray for the elders of our church. May God be their guide. 13- Read 1 Corinthians 13: Pray for the students attending Lutheran High. 15- Pray for the Sunday school children and their teachers. May they be filled with knowledge of God s word. 16- Pray for those who are ill or hospitalized. 17- Read Psalm Pray for our nation and those chosen to lead us. 19- Pray for Vicar Kuehl & Caitlyn. 20- Praise God that Jesus Christ has died and risen for us! Alleluia! 21- Read Luke 18: Pray for Alvina Federwitz and her continued mission work in Africa. May she bring God s word to the people there. 23- Pray for all missionaries serving around the world. 24- Read Psalm Thank God for the blessing of a preschool here at Trinity. Pray for God s blessings on the children, their families and the teachers. 26- Pray for all of those who work in our church or serve our congregation in some way. 27- Share God s word with someone today. 28- Pray for the shut-ins of our congregation. 29- Pray for your neighbors. 30- Thank God for all the blessings you have been given this month. Christian Women s Fellowship March Meeting Minutes Angie welcomed everyone to our March 10 meeting. Opening devotions by Shelly was a Lenten theme devotion from the Lutheran Indian Ministries. Mite box offerings and an update on our grants was given. Secretary's and treasurers reports were approved as read. Assignments were given. A new banner was made. Thank you to the service committee for the library make over. Bags for small children to use during our services will be available. Some members attended the Prayer Service at Trinity in Sheboygan. Zone 9 LWML Spring Rally will be held April 1. Easter breakfast and spaghetti supper were discussed. We sang for the birthdays of Kathy Shircel, Caitlyn Kuehl and Mary Ann Grunewald. Reminder of LWML fall retreat at Blue harbor Resort in Sheboygan, September 26,27. Shelly had closing devotions, The Lord s Prayer.
