3 Pastor s Message Page 2 Dear Friends In Christ, It is hard to believe that summer is winding down and that school and fall activities are all beginning. Where did the time go is a statement that one makes and then realizes that a person says these things pretty much the same way every year. It is always that way. Time flies by and one wonders where it went. Of course, one thing doesn't change, and that is the Word of God. It is timeless and fits all circumstances of daily life. It remains the one and only real constant in a person s life. This is a good time to think about our Lord who is always there for us. It is also a good time for each of us again to remind ourselves how we need this Lord in our life. Fall schedules are ready to begin, and what could be better for our souls then a faithful schedule of receiving Word and Sacrament each week. I would hope this would be on your weekly agenda this fall and throughout the year, that each week would begin with worship in the Lord's house. In changing times with changing seasons and busy schedules what each and every one of us needs more than anything else is our Lord. He is the constant companion who always knows how to help in every situation. The more time I spend with Him the better equipped I am to handle what life gives me each day. By the way, when you are at worship I would encourage you to look around at your fellow Christians worshiping there with you. It may be the only time throughout the entire week that you are in the midst of a group of people where everyone believes in the Savior exactly as you do. It is an amazing thing. The Lord puts us in the body of Christ this way to remind us that we are not alone in living for Him. Each week I am reminded, that many others believe just as I do. This is a joyful and reassuring thing. Why would anyone ever want to miss worship on a Sunday morning? I am looking forward to all the opportunities I will have to worship with my brothers and sisters in the faith. May the Lord grant His blessing to each of us as we grow in faith together. Serving the Savior, Pastor Darrel Bergelin

4 Vicar s Message Page 3 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! God s plans are certainly not the same as the plans we make for ourselves. If someone had told me that I would be here a year ago, in such a caring place, it would have baffled me. It amazes me that God has such wonderful things planned. My name is Joshua Reinke and I am the new vicar here at Trinity. I was born in St. Louis in 1987 when my father was at the Seminary. I have moved many times in my life, most notably a few years in Omaha and a year in Ghana, West Africa. At the present time, I am from Janesville, WI. I attended Concordia University in Mequon WI, where I met my fiancé, Tristin Rutledge, and received my Bachelors in History in Since then, I have attended Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. Seminary was a rich and exciting time as I learned more about what we as Lutherans believe, teach, and confess. I am looking forward to learning as much as I can from Pastor Bergelin about how to put into practice what I have learned. In order that I can best put to use the gifts that God has given me in the service of His people and Word. God s plans are rich in mercy and love, more than we can ever understand. God s people are just as rich in their kindness. I have experienced that already in my short time here. I do not know what the rest of the year will bring, but I do know that the rest of the year is already planned out by God, touched by His grace, and that everything will go according to His plans. I pray that God upholds you in His compassion and steadfast kindness as the year goes by and ordains all things for your wellbeing as His people and the strengthening of His faith in you. I look forward to learning and serving among you here at Trinity and ask God s blessings on all of us as this year continues. Your Servant in Christ, Vicar Reinke

It sounds so beautiful and is such a huge addition to our music department. Elders Corner "Come follow me" Jesus said "and I will make you fishers of men" (Matthew 4.19) We can all be fishers of men. God has placed us in the time and location that we find ourselves for a reason. Perhaps that reason is to tell someone about Jesus and salvation and eternal life in heaven. Let us all make good use of the gift of witnessing for Christ. Dear Father, help us to be bold in our faith and spread your word which you promise will not come back empty. In Jesus name, Amen.

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets? What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it? What if we flipped through it several times a day? What if we treated it like we couldn t live without it? What if we gave it to kids as gifts? What if we used it as we traveled? What if we used it in case of an emergency? Unlike our cell phone, we don t ever have to worry about our Bible being disconnected, because Jesus already paid the bill!!! DID YOU KNOW??????? is a FREE social networking service. Additionally, users may join commoninterest user groups. TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH HAS A FACEBOOK PAGE. Pastor Bergelin posts messages daily. We have followers all over the world. Positive comments and or likes are made after each message from facebook followers. An example of a message he posted: A word about following a good example. Perhaps there isn't any emotion that imprisons the soul more than the unwillingness to forgive. What do you do when people mistreat you or those you love? Do you burn with anger? Do you want to strike back in some way? Are you ready in the moment to show them who gets the last word? Or do you reach somewhere, to some source of "cool water" and pull out a bucket of mercy to free yourself, to forgive. I would encourage you to not get on the roller coaster of resentment and anger. Rather, follow the good example. You be the one who says, Yes, I was mistreated, but I am going to be like Christ. I will be the one who says, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they are doing. You can never go wrong when you follow the example of Christ. If you suffer for doing good and endure it, this is commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His steps. I Peter 2:20-21 An example of a comment made after Pastor s message. MaryJo Schubert Cyr I love this...thanks Trinity for your encouraging posts. 12 Lutheran High Highlights Page 11 The Long View About a hundred years ago, a boy grew up in Europe. His father s given name was Alois Schicklgruber. As a teen, he never learned about character. His parents never taught him right from wrong. Soon he began to come up with his own ideas and values. To make matters worse, his father put him down when he talked about becoming a priest, insulted him when he spoke of becoming an artist, and eventually physically abused him. He was never valued, taught values, or mentored on the origin of values. One night, he heard his mom and dad argue about moving away. He was convinced they hated him and suspected they would leave him behind. He decided to put up an emotional wall and never let anyone inside his heart. He ran away. This boy grew up to be a man. The man became a leader. History knows him as Adolf Hitler (Elmore, 2010). Parents play the most vital role in the lives of their children. The lessons parents teach kids, explicitly and implicitly, reverberate decades after children leave the home. Indeed, parenting is all at once a wonderful blessing and a huge responsibility. A Christian parent is committed to raising up their son or daughter in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Train up a child in the way he should go, says Proverbs 22:6, so that even when he is old he will not depart from it. Indeed, Christian parents take the long view when it comes to their children s spiritual well-being. They want to see their kids in Heaven someday sitting at the foot of the Lamb, praising Christ for all of His goodness and salvation. This is why when their seven year-old son refuses to go to church, because he would rather stay home and play video games or sleep in, Christian parents say: Get your Sunday best on right now son and no more video game privileges! We are going to worship in the House of the Lord today. Come to think of it, many Christian parents might need to say this very same thing to their 17 year-old son too. Christian parents take the long view of their children s faith life when they choose to send their kids to a Lutheran elementary school and Lutheran High School. To be sure, the short view of life would be: I don t want to spend a dime on education when I can get a government education for free (supported by our tax dollars of course). The Christian parent, on the other hand, takes the long view and says something completely different: In the few short years I have my children at home, I want do all I can to pass on the faith, to encourage and model a faithful church life, and share the love of Christ with my kids both in and out of the home. What a blessing to have a Lutheran elementary school and Lutheran High School to support as my highest priority. One-third of a teen s life will be spent at school during these crucial, character shaping years. A Christian education is a gift that will keep on giving long beyond a diploma or college admittance. Therefore, let us keep encouraging our parents, grandparents, loving guardians, and everyone that has influence over our young people to take the long view and invest in things that make an impact eternally. After all, our children are watching, not just what we say is important in life, but what we do and how we live. Jesus always says it best: For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:21). In Jesus name, Dr. James A. Pingel II Executive Director Trinity Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, W2776 STH 32 Howards Grove, WI
