1 TRIANGLE Pastor Bergelin s Message 2018 Dear Members and Friends of Trinity, It will not be long before the holiday seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas will be upon us once again. But before that, as is our practice here at Trinity, November is the month of our stewardship activities. The dates have been set aside and we again ask all of our families to sign up for a date and time convenient to them. Stewardship is a reminding time of how all that we are and have is from the Lord. It is from God that all blessings flow as the familiar words of the doxology remind us. The blessings of the Lord are to be appreciated and enjoyed by us. Stewardship is the opportunity to give back to the Lord a portion of the blessings that are really His to begin with. This giving back to Him is from our time, our abilities, and our dollars. Much of our programs and activities are laid out for next year. Once again it will take the efforts of all of us, as the Lord blesses us, to bring them all to fruition. What a joy the Lord gives to us to be able to share in the work of up-building His Kingdom. To be sure, the Kingdom of God can move forward very easily without any of us, but it is amazing to think that the Lord would bless each of us with the opportunity to be a part of the Kingdom work in this place. I can never understand why any would let such opportunity pass by. The window is only open for the few years that we live and have health on this earth. With great joy then, I invite you to sign up for a stewardship visit and hear and learn about what's planned at Trinity in Serving the Savior, Pastor Darrel Bergelin The monthly Newsletter of Trinity Lutheran Church. Dedicated to the Glory of the Triune God. Sent to inform members and friends about the Mission and ministry of our Lord s Church. TRIANGLE Pastor Darrel L. Bergelin 1

2 Vicar Rusche Message Dear Members and Friends of Trinity, Psalms 136: 1-3 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords: His love endures forever. This reading from the book of Psalms is perhaps the most fitting to focus on for the month of November. It helps us to appreciate how much our Lord does for us. The gift of life that we get each morning being able to see the sun rise and feel the warmth on our face. The gift of the changing seasons that brings with it the harvest and the bounty it brings with it. And the wonderful gifts that we receive in the waters of Holy Baptism. Elder s Corner Give Thanks to the Lord for he is good, His love endures. 1 Chronicles 16:34. His love, we praise Him each and every day knowing how much more we are given then what we deserve. But still the Fatherly love shines down on us, envelopes us and makes us whole. Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances for this is God s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5: Sing praises to the Lord. O You His Saints and give thanks to His Holy Name. Psalms 30:4. So as we gather around the table this Thanksgiving let s The Bible is full of verses like these and remember all that our reminds us of how blessed we are, and to Lord has given us. Not just the things that we see but the God be the glory. With November here and things that we cannot see Thanksgiving right around the corner, let us but know He gives us each take time to reflect on the blessings the Lord day. has given and continues to give us in our lives. We give thanks to God for His great In Christ, mercy and love through His Son Jesus Vicar Jonathon Rusche Christ, who was sent from heaven down into this world to be a perfect sacrifice on the cross for our salvation. For this gift of love and for all the blessings in our lives we should give thanks to our Lord this Thanksgiving. Our Lord has given us these wonderful gifts as just that, gifts. Not things that we ve earned but great gifts given in love. The love of the Father is transcending. It s eternal, like the Psalms say it endures forever. This love of the father is our ultimate thing that we have to be thankful for. It s what saves us, redeems us, and shapes us. Most people know that hundreds of thousands of men died during the American Civil War, and some even know that thousands died during the epic Battle of Gettysburg Jennie Wade, a young Christian woman, barely twenty years old, who was shot in the back by a sharpshooter while bending over a dough tray making bread for the Union Army. Connie Hansen, author and living historian, will portray Mary Wade, Jennie s mother, and share her family s experiences throughout the Civil War, and the Battle of Gettysburg in particular. Dressed in period attire and speaking in first person, she will share the horrors of war from a civilian point of view and tell you how their simple lives were changed forever. And she will share with you the tragedy of what it was like to have her daughter practically die in her arms. After the presentation she will be pleased to answer any questions you might have. 8 Together We Can We are so blessed at Lutheran High to have the support of parents, grandparents, and the community. It is something that is quite evident if you look at the LHS events throughout the year. From Bible breakfasts, concerts, and plays to athletic competitions, or the auction and other fundraisers, we could not thrive or survive without their support. Grandparents/Senior Citizens day at LHS is one of those cherished annual events. Grandparents and senior citizens enjoy a morning together with students and faculty. The day starts out with a donuts-and-coffee welcome gathering in the gym, followed by our chapel service. Guests enjoy sitting in on two classes with students before concluding the day with hot lunch. They are able to visit Spanish, Science, and English among other classes, and see how our faculty start classes with devotions and tie God s Word into the curriculum. They are so grateful for the sharing of the Word with their grandchildren. Another special event is our Taproot Club Dinner. Taproot donors support the annual operations of the school. Each year we host a dinner where LHS supporters gather for social time, dine together with an LHS Student Ambassador and enjoy messages from students who speak on what their Lutheran High education has meant to them. Our special Taproot guest speaker this year was Mr. Rod Handley, author of Character That Counts: Who s Counting Yours?, and Founder of a ministry of the same name, and former Fellowship of Christian Athletes CFO/COO. Rod speaks across the nation to men, women and teenagers about character, integrity and accountability. Rod spoke to the LHS student body earlier the same day at an assembly in the gym about trusting each other. In order to trust each other, we can t let each other down, Rod stressed. As God asks that we trust Him, He will not let us down. Thank you to all who support Lutheran High School so we can continue to share God s Word and blessings with our students and our community. Lutheran High s Student Leaders of the Month have been chosen based on their service, behavior, leadership, attitude & academic achievements. Senior - Emma Egbert St. John s Catholic Church - Kohler Junior - Josiah Anderson Christian Life Church Sophomore - Danica Hansen Bethlehem Lutheran Church - Sheboygan Freshman - Kaylee Morgan Plymouth Alliance Church Student Ambassadors from the Senior Class attended the Taproot Dinner, pictured above with guest speaker, Mr. Rod Handley.
