Parish Mission Statement The mission of the Catholic communities of St. Blaise and St. Brendan is to be a people united in the Eucharist and dedicated to spreading the Good News of God s saving love to all. We seek to encourage the full and active participation of all God s children and be a place where they can come to know, love, and serve God. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we give witness to the teachings of Jesus Christ by actively living the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, thereby being signs of God s love in the world. Parish Volunteer CORI s: ALL parish volunteers must complete a yearly CORI form, required by the Archdiocese of Boston. Paula will be at all the Masses with the 2019 CORI forms; please remember to bring your license. If you have any questions please call the office. Prayer Shawl Ministry ~ The Prayer Shawl ministry meets every Monday, except holidays and during inclement weather. The members of the ministry make BEAUTIFUL prayer shawls and lap blankets that have been blessed by Fr. Al. The ministry also makes beautiful white baptismal blankets, also blessed by Fr. Al, given to each child baptized at St. Blaise. If you know of a parishioner, family member or friend that may like a shawl or lap blanket, please call the office. New members are always welcome! 4 Journey In Faith ~JOURNEY IN FAITH NEWS~ March 2, 2:00-5:00 p.m. March 3, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. ~Confirmation News~ The next Confirmation class will be held on Sunday, March 17th from 8:30-10:00 a.m. in the Rectory. Confirmation Retreat: The mandatory Confirmation retreat will be held here at St. Blaise on Saturday March 9th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ALL students are required to attend; if you have any questions please contact Beth. First Reconciliation Parent Meeting: There will be a parent meeting on Sunday, March 10th following the 10:00 Mass in the Chapel. This is an important meeting for parents of children in their first year of First Reconciliation and First Communion preparation attending Journey in Faith. The Eucharist is the sum and summary of our faith(ccc1327). ~Seventh Sunday of Ordinary Time~ Jesus words today make it very clear how we are to live as His followers. Love your enemies do good to those who curse you Pray for those who mistreat you give to everyone who asks of you (and) don t demand it back Stop judging Forgive and you will be forgiven. Jesus doesn t lighten our responsibility, rather, he restates his teaching emphasizing that the extent to which we are willing to follow/live His words is what will be returned to us. Ask Christ to help you this week to put his words into action in your life. Notice the difference it makes in your relationships. Sunday Offertory Summary of last weekend s Collection: Offertory: $5, Automatic Bill Pay Offertory: $1, Total Offertory: $6, Thank you for your continued support! Support of the Church Around the World: This week s second collection will support the Church in those underdeveloped areas of the world. Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the Church in Africa and in Central and Eastern Europe and three important national Catholic missions: the Military Archdiocese, Home Missions, and the Black and Indian Missions. Your generosity will help fund the spiritual, educational and humanitarian needs of the Church around the world. For more information about each of these organizations go to the USCCB national collections website. ~Cursillo: An Opportunity to Deepen Your Faith~ Cursillo is an encounter with Christ in a small community of the Church, in order to deepen your own faith and strengthen your ability to be witnesses of Christ in the world. The date for the Men s Cursillo weekend will be held April 4-7. The weekend runs from Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon and are held at the Campion Center in Weston MA. Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner: The Knights of Columbus will sponsor a Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner (ham will also be served) on Saturday evening March 16th here at St. Blaise from 5:00 8:30 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door: Adults $15.00, Children 6-16 $10.00, Children 5 and under, FREE and a Family Max of $ Save the date and plan on bringing the whole Ash Wednesday March 6, 2019 Masses: 9:00 a.m. & 7:00 p.m. Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered after both Masses

5 Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry The February food pantry request is for small bags of rice, and low sugar cereal. Thank you for your continued support. Greater Boston Food Bank Delivery will be delivered on Monday March 4th. Volunteers are need at 9:00 a.m. to assist with unpacking and storing the items. Thank you for your assistance. Annual Parish Retreat~ So what are you doing about time for yourself...to pray, be still, take a walk, enjoy the company of a small group of parishioners who are looking to do the same?? Why not consider the parish retreat coming up Tuesday thru Thursday, May at the Franciscan Retreat Center in Kennebunkport Maine. Space is still available for singles or couples. Meeting Christ in Prayer~ An eight-week guided prayer experience based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius will be held during Lent. Sister Anne D Arcy, CSJ will lead a group at Fontbonne Convent 444 Centre Street, Milton, MA on Tuesday evenings March 5th April 23 from 7:00 8:15 p.m. For further information and to register call Save the date~ Resurrection is coming to St. Blaise Parish on Saturday evening April 6, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. There is no charge for the performance but free will offerings will be accepted and greatly appreciated. Peter recalls his own experiences with Christ as well as those he shared with Mary Magdalene and the disciples as they followed Jesus. In moving song, Peter shows the anguish for his denial of Christ and the joy that comes with the Resurrection and His forgiveness. Next weekend, we will be taking important steps to enrich many life-changing ministries and our parish communities. Faith Formation, Permanent Diaconate, Clergy personnel, Parish Services, Human Resources, and Scouting are among more than 50 critical ministries supported by the 2019 Catholic Appeal. JESUS OF NAZARETH~ What are you doing for your Lenten journey? The Ladies of St. Ann will host the showing of Jesus of Nazareth, the story of Jesus life. Adult parishioners and young adults in high school and college are invited; the movie will be shown in 1 1/2 hour segments, 7:00 p.m. 8:30 p.m., on March 7, 14, 21, 28, and April 4 in the church hall. You do not have to attend all the segments if you are unable to. If interested in attending please sign up on the sheet located at the back of the church. St. Brendan s Lenten Bible Study~ St. Brendan will host Dr. John Bergsma of Steubenville University on Saturday Sunday, March 23-24th, time to be determined.
