Lunches must be deliver to the parish kitchen by 11:30. ~ The 4 young adults also are in need of families to host them for dinner Sunday, July 22-Thursday, July 26. 2 A Message from Our Pastor Go Out to the whole world and proclaim the good news. I always have had great admiration for the first missionaries in any territory, as they had no network no support at a human level. Their support was their faith. They had to learn a language struggle with rejection and failure and yet they persevered. Their faith paved the way for others and slowly and surely the church grew and continues to grow. Jesus sent his disciples out two by two. Likewise the early missionaries. Disease and hostility were part of the deal. Most countries in the world have had martyrs and victims of disease and yet the missionaries continued and by God s grace the faith grew. We too are called to continue to proclaim our faith especially to those who have lapsed or fallen away. The way we live our lives, our example and our sense of community and welcome are things that attract. Let us pray to the Lord of the harvest for the faith and courage of the early missionaries to continue to grow in faith and to proclaim it. The first is the call issued by the Lord to the prophet Amos, the shepherd and a dresser of sycamores (Amos 7:14). The second is the call the Lord Jesus issued to the Twelve, whom he sent out two by two (Mark 6:7). These faithful people responded to the call, prophesying and preaching to the people to whom they had been sent. Each of us received a call when we were baptized. The second reading invites us to ponder that call as we are reminded that we are chosen in Christ and that, in love, God destined us for adoption (Ephesians 1:5). As adopted daughters and sons of God we are called to bring the presence of Christ into our marriages, families, schools, and places of work. We encourage you to register through the simple process of picking up the form in the back of church or by telephoning the office and complete the simple questionnaire. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION:(Family Centered Faith Formation) Registration takes place from May through August. Classes begin in September and are held twice a month on Sunday after the 10:00 am Mass. PARISH MINISTRIES: If you would like to join one of our parish ministries (lector, Communion minister, catechists, etc.) please call the office for details. ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT is held on Tuesday from 5-8p.m. and on Thursday after the 9:15 am Mass until 10:45a.m. SACRAMENTAL PREPARATIONS: We are delighted to celebrate the sacraments of Baptism & Marriage within our parish for registered families. Baptisms: Are celebrated on Sunday after the 10:00 am Mass. Call the church office for open dates. Marriages: Please contact the parish office at the beginning of your wedding planning to check if your wedding date is available and to start the marriage preparation process. A minimum of six(6) months in advance of your wedding date is a requirement of the Joliet diocese. Weddings are celebrated at Noon or 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Quinceanara Must contact the parish 3 months prior to the requested date RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults): For adults interested in becoming Catholic, RCIA prepares them to receive the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil. Adult Catholics in need of Confirmation are also invited. The formal program meets weekly from October through May.
