Sebahar Servant Leadership Award. This award will present $500 to Amanda for displaying outstanding Christian service to the parish and community. Amanda has volunteered in the Religious Education program throughout her high school career and is now one of our Catechists. She is also actively involved in Youth Group and Totus Tuus as well as numerous school and community service endeavors. We are proud and happy for her to have been chosen from many applicants! Only one senior boy and one senior girl in the diocese is given this award. God bless you on your journey, Amanda!

2 GAELIC PARK IRISH FESTIVAL Chicago Gaelic Park, 6119 West 147th Street, Oak Forest, Is sponsoring an indoor/outdoor Irish Festival on Memorial Day Weekend, May 25 thru May 28. there will be two indoor, and four outdoor covered stages and covered seating areas, presenting continuous entertainment,, Irish import stores, and unlimited carnival rides, Irish step dancing competition, food and refreshments. For futher information call or visit their website at Knights of Columbus During the entire month of May, the St. Francis Xavier Knights of Columbus will once again be holding our annual "Baby Shower" with the items collected going to the Guardian Angel Home in Joliet. Baby food, diapers, formula, onesies, toys and monetary donations will be accepted and appreciated. We cannot accept car seats or strollers. A playpen will be set up in the Narthex by the Knights table. Thank you for all you do. Are you a Cornhole player? Well if you are or just want to join us for a fun afternoon, the SFX Knights of Columbus will be hosting a Bags tournament on Sunday, June 24th. Mark your calendars. More information to follow. Proceeds will go to the Pavilion fund. Did you ever think about becoming a Knight? Do you wish to join us on our journey to help the Parish and our community? On May 2nd, the St. Francis Xavier Knights of Columbus Council #14283 will be celebrating our 11th anniversary of being chartered. We are a Catholic hotline providing counseling and referral assistance to anyone struggling to find his or her way back to God or a more rational life. We help everyone regardless of their faith or background. To be a phone counselor, you don t need experience in mental health or phone work, although that background is helpful. What you will need is a love of people and a strong desire to help the lonely, frightened, and confused. We provide all the training. Remember St. Francis Xavier Parish in your Prayers MISSION APPEAL Sr. Candida Massabo from Tanzania is coming to our parish to do a mission appeal talk on the weekend of June 2/3 for the needs of her Congregation which carried various ministries to the margins in northwestern Tanzania. Sr. Candida is a professed nun from the Sisters Congregation of St. Maria Goretti in Tanzania and she is currently going to St. Francis University studying nursing and lives with the Franciscan Sisters of Sacred Heart at St. Joseph Presence Medical Center in Joliet. She comes to us as a the guest of the Mission Office of our Diocese which annually invites various religious congregations and dioceses from all over the world to share with us the works in the missions and invites us to support them as part of our baptismal call to evangelize the Gospel of Christ to the ends of the world. The sisters of St. Maria Goretti have the mission to evangelization through education, rescuing young women, young girls and young boys who live in physical and sexual abuses of their society. They minister to street children who are homeless and have no one to care for them. The motto of the Congregation of St. Maria Goretti is Happy the pure in heart for they shall see God, purity of heart, Die Yes sin no. We welcome Sr. Candida in our parish, let s open our physical and spiritual ears to listen to her message as well as be generous to the mission needs of her Congregation. The Diocese Will Be Matching Donations between July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018 The Diocese will match your donation to the Rectory and put it towards the debt on the Church Thank you to all who contribute

4 St Peregrine Ministry We gather on the second Saturday of each month at 4pm to pray for healing from God through the intercession of St Peregrine. We will celebrate the liturgy together, proclaiming the Sunday scriptures. All gatherings will include a blessing with a first class relic of St Peregrine and reception. For further Information contact the Mantellate Sisters at Ph SCRIP Scrip is sold after every mass. Please make Scrip part of your monthly gas or grocery budget. Stop by the Scrip table for more information on ordering. We place special orders the 3rd Sunday of the month. May orders will be placed May 15th. June orders will be placed June 20th. Pilgrimage to Lourdes 2018 is the 160 anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady of Lourdes. If there is a enough interest I would be happy to organize a pilgrimage to Lourdes and Fatima taking in some of the French shrines. There would need to be around 30 people to make it possible. Marriages: Please contact the parish office at the beginning of your wedding planning to check if your wedding date is available and to start the marriage preparation process. A minimum of six(6) months in advance of your wedding date is a requirement of the Joliet diocese. Weddings are celebrated at Noon or 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Quinceanara Must contact the parish 3 months prior to the requested date RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults): For adults interested in becoming Catholic, RCIA prepares them to receive the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil. Adult Catholics in need of Confirmation are also invited. The formal program meets weekly from October through May.
