A Message from Our Pastor, Dear Brothers and Sisters, We continue our exploration of the Rosary during October, the month of the rosary. The Luminous Mysteries: The first Mystery: The Baptism in the Jordan. Jesus comes to John to be baptized and the spirit proclaims This is my beloved Son Lk 3: 21. Mt 3:13-17 The second Mystery: The Wedding Feast at Cana: Jesus at the request of his mother turns water into wine. Jn 2:1-12. The third Mystery: The proclamation of the Kingdom: Lk: 3:16 Mt:3:7 Jesus proclaims his mission The spirit of the Lord is upon me. The fourth Mystery: The Transfiguration: Jesus shares his glory with the apostles. Lk:28-36 The fifth Mystery: The Institution of the Eucharist. Lk: 22:19-20 Jesus give us His Body and Blood as food for our Journey. Once again by matching the mysteries to the scripture passage we can learn more about our faith. I have not given all the scripture references but only a few to help your journey of faith. Next week we will reference the sorrowful and glorious mysteries. 3 Sing to the Lord!! Adults are invited and welcome to sing with the Adult Choir! Choir members give of their time to serve in this ministry and assist in leading the congregation in song. Weekly rehearsals begin Thursday, September 6, from 7:00-8:30. The Youth Choir is in need of young voices ages 8 through high school to join and serve in this ministry. Children/ teens learn various aspects of choral singing by praising God through song. Rehearsals begin September 13 at 6:15. Consider giving your time and talent to the music ministry of Saint Francis Xavier by volunteering as a cantor and prayerfully leading the assembly in song during worship. If you play a musical instrument proficiently, you are invited to share your gifts periodically in the music during Mass. We encourage you to register through the simple process of picking up the form in the back of church or by telephoning the office and complete the simple questionnaire. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION:(Family Centered Faith Formation) Registration takes place from May through August. Classes begin in September and are held twice a month on Sunday after the 10:00 am Mass. PARISH MINISTRIES: If you would like to join one of our parish ministries (lector, Communion minister, catechists, etc.) please call the office for details. ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT is held on Tuesday from 5-8p.m. and on Thursday after the 9:15 am Mass until 10:45a.m. SACRAMENTAL PREPARATIONS: We are delighted to celebrate the sacraments of Baptism & Marriage within our parish for registered families. If you have any questions, please contact our parish office, SACRAMENTAL INFORMATION: Reconciliation: Confessions are every Saturday from 3:30 to 4:15 pm, Wednesday from 5:45 to 6:15 pm and by appt.. Baptisms: Are celebrated on Sunday after the 10:00 am Mass. Call the church office for open dates. Marriages: Please contact the parish office at the beginning of your wedding planning to check if your wedding date is available and to start the marriage preparation process. A minimum of six(6) months in advance of your wedding date is a requirement of the Joliet diocese. Weddings are celebrated at Noon or 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Quinceanara Must contact the parish 3 months prior to the requested date RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults): For adults interested in becoming Catholic, RCIA prepares them to receive the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil. Adult Catholics in need of Confirmation are also invited. The formal program meets weekly from October through May.
