Yes, preparations for the dance takes a long time. A lot of people work hard and knock on many doors in order to make the event a success. Hopefully we made enough to pay the bills, but we also hope that people had fun and we helped you get to know some of the 4:30s or 8:30s or 10:00 clock people. Because a parish is more than those who go to one Mass. It is about all of us growing in faith and being better friends to one another. We are one people in Christ. And we journey together, caring for one another, watching out for each other and building together the people of God. Jesus is approaching Jerusalem, he is about to be condemned and led to his death. We ask ourselves where am I in the midst of all this. Am I the judge, am I the one who runs away? Where am I? And the words of the hymn calls out where you there when they crucified my lord? Are we caring for Him watching for Him, asking Him to journey with us as we journey with him in these final weeks of lent. Fr Karl

Daybreak Sign Up Sunday March 18, 2018 Please drop the food off at church between 5:45 and 6:00 pm on the 4th Friday of each month or call Don Newhall. Volunteers are needed to bring food. Our menu consists of Lasagna and/ or Mostaccioli, salad, bread, dessert, juice and milk. Contact Don Newhall at or A notebook will be in the Narthex to sign up for food donations and serving Lenten Fish Fry St. Francis Xavier Parish &The Knights of Columbus will once again be hosting the Lenten Fish Fry. This years dates will be February 16th and 23rd, March 2nd, 9th and 23rd from 4:30-7:30pm. We are seeking volunteers to help with these events. Sign up sheets will be located at the Knights table in the Narthex. Help is needed in all areas from cooking, set up, clean up and serving. Bake goods will also be requested for the dessert table. If you can spare an hour or two, it will be greatly appreciated. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence. For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards. K of C Ladies Auxiliary All women of our parish are invited to our next meeting March 7:30pm in the lower level of the church. Pilgrimage to Lourdes 2018 is the 160 anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady of Lourdes. If there is a enough interest I would be happy to organize a pilgrimage to Lourdes and Fatima taking in some of the French shrines. There would need to be around 30 people to make it possible. Contact me if you are interested and we can work out with a travel agent the details if we have the numbers. Sausage, all you can eat pancakes, fruit cup and beverages for a freewill donation. All proceeds will go to the Mantellate Sisters for a new driveway. Plus, this Easter Season please consider giving the gift of life by donating blood. Sign up sheets are located at the Knight's table in the Narthex. As we continue in the season of Lent, this special penitential season of the liturgical year is an excellent time to turn our thoughts even more toward our mission of growing in a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and supporting our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land. Lent offers another special opportunity to support the Christians and the institutions in the land of His birth, death and Resurrection. This is the third year that the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre are helping promote the Good Friday Collection. None of the monies collected on Good Friday go to the Equestrian Order. Rather 100% of these funds go to maintain the holy sites that are visited by our pilgrims and support numerous Franciscan apostolates that directly help the Christians in the Holy Land. 4 TUESDAY EVENING 5 8 p.m. Blanket Ministry These blankets are either sewn, quilted, knitted, crocheted or fleece-tied by volunteers who pray while making the blanket. Once completed, a card is attached to the blanket and then blessed by Fr. Karl. The blessed blankets are presented to the recipient(s), letting them know that they remain in our thoughts and prayers even if they cannot be with us at Mass. We are now seeking volunteers to use their time, talent and material to help replenish our supply of blankets. Some material has recently been donated to the ministry for those who can sew or quilt. For those who knit or crochet, there are patterns available for prayer shawls. Please make Scrip part of your monthly gas or grocery budget. Stop by the Scrip table for more information on ordering. We place special orders the 3rd Sunday of the month. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION:(Family Centered Faith Formation) Registration takes place from May through August. Classes begin in September and are held twice a month on Sunday after the 10:00 am Mass. ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT is held on Tuesday from 5-8p.m. and on Thursday after the 9:15 am Mass until 10:45a.m. SACRAMENTAL PREPARATIONS: We are delighted to celebrate the sacraments of Baptism & Marriage within our parish for registered families. Baptisms: Are celebrated on Sunday after the 10:00 am Mass. Call the church office for open dates. Marriages: Please contact the parish office at the beginning of your wedding planning to check if your wedding date is available and to start the marriage preparation process. A minimum of six(6) months in advance of your wedding date is a requirement of the Joliet diocese. Weddings are celebrated at Noon or 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Quinceanara Must contact the parish 3 months prior to the requested date RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults): For adults interested in becoming Catholic, RCIA prepares them to receive the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil. Adult Catholics in need of Confirmation are also invited. The formal program meets weekly from October through May.
