3 St. Mary s Academic Achievement Award (AAA) In order to encourage and challenge the youth in our immediate church family, we have established the St. Mary s Academic Achievement Award. One hundred dollars will be awarded to any high school, junior high or middle school student who receives a 3.5 GPA report card. For our young people it is vitally important for them to understand that getting the finest education possible, and using that knowledge with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, is their best hope both for their future and for the future of mankind. Requirements: In order to apply for the award the student must attend St. Mary s Church and must have a parent, grandparent or guardian who is a member of St. Mary s Church. Report cards should be submitted to the Priest or to a member of the vestry.there is no application form. If more than one student qualifies, multiple awards will be given, but students may only receive the award once during each academic year. The awards are funded by the L. Dean and Gay Welch Memorial gifts in keeping with their lifelong support education excellence. After explaining the commandment to 'Honor thy father and thy mother,' she asked, 'Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?' 6 7 The camp frontal is in need of a few more squares. See Jan Aizpitarte for details. Just a few more of our talented crafters/quilters. Want to help but need a wee bit of help? We have many hands to guide you! The Annual Meeting will be January 22nd. A brunch will be served. Come on down, have a morsel or two and hear what St. Mary s accomplished in 2016 and what we are looking forward to in 2017! Remember, St. Mary s needs all her happy helpers! Paradise Point Camp Sunday is February 12. Camp fodder will be served after the 10:00 Service. Wouldn t it be awesome if the camp frontal was done in time for this service!?! Time to think about Shrove Tuesday and our Pancake Supper. Falls on February 28 this year. Many hands make light work gentlemen! See Sandy Sanders to volunteer. Friendship Dinner January 10. We are serving lasagna, green salad and bread/butter. Looking for desserts. Friendship Dinner February 28. We are serving Turkey Noodle/Rice Veggie casserole/soup, green salad, bread & butter. Looking for desserts While we are housebound (due to an over abundance of snow & ice) might as well start Spring cleaning. The rummage sale is on the distant horizon and will be here (probably before the snow/ice melt) before you know it. The Bishop s Annual Visit will be Sunday February 19. Brunch will be served after the 10:00 Service. If you have not yet met Bishop Brian please come and say hello. If you have met him, come and say howdy. Walk like a penguin.
