1 MAY 2014 volume 1 number 1 The Herald MAY HIGHLIGHTS Church of the Holy Nativity, Meridian, Idaho May 4 Youth Sunday May 11 Mother s Day May 25 Morning Prayer Senior Warden s Message He is risen! What a glorious Holy week we celebrated at Holy Nativity! We had a small gathering for the bean supper before the Maunday Thursday service, where we did the foot washing and with several people participating. This is indeed a very humbling service. Thank you Alice, for leading us. Good Friday was celebrated with the Stations of the Cross at noon, led by Rena Bruckner and Marilynn Frilling. Canon Lucinda Ashby led the service at 7:00 pm, I left that service in a truly contemplative mood. Easter Sunday was glorious with nearly 200 people in attendance. The children f lowered the cross and we had two baby baptisms (Harrison and Charlotte), then a nice reception and coffee hour followed. The Youth hid eggs for the smaller children s egg hunt, which was enjoyed by all. We have one very important event happening at Holy Nativity, June 18 is the Ordination of our own Megan Dembi. There will be lots of preparation necessary before this event. Please step up and help whenever asked. Ordination of a Priest is very special and we are so very proud of Megan and honored that she is having her ordination at Holy Nativity. If we are to have a Church Picnic this year, we need someone to organize it. If someone does not step forward soon, there will not be a picnic again this year. Canon Lucinda is conducting Worship Leader classes in the next two weeks, so we will have some trained and licensed leaders for Morning Prayer Services, which we will be having once a month. Kudos, to these people who are willing to take this class and serve our congregation. It s lawn mowing time again. We will need people to sign up for this rotation. We have six graduating seniors this year: Emily Jane Traub, Elise Gorrell, Hiba Munayirji, Tyler Street, Sierra Bush and Katie Wheeler. We will have a celebration for them on May 18. Start saving your items for the Yard Sale to be held the last part of June. This is always one of the biggest fundraisers of the year. Contact Lorraine Bowring for more information May you all have a blessed spring, but don t forget to come to church and keep your pledge up. Blessings Gladys Clymens Sr. Warden
