Holy Communion Class Amazon.com SPY Meetings Sunday May 4 & 18 Jr. SPY 4-5:30 pm Sr. SPY 5:30 7:00 pm Children's Chapel May 11, :00am Although the March Children's Chapel didn't happen due to unforeseen illness, we are trying again! Children's Chapel is part of the Sunday School Program and will take the place of Family Church. One Sunday a month the children will gather in the Chapel rather than in their Sunday School class. They will participate in a service of their own with music, prayers, reading and a children's sermon. The children will return to church approximately at the Peace as they do when there is Sunday School. If you ask some of the older teens, they have fond memories of their Chapel each Sunday. Thank you so much to those of you that were able to help out with the Easter Basket drive! The children and their families were more than delighted to receive your thoughtful baskets! Christine DiGiovanni Our annual Holy Communion Class is going to take place on the following dates: Sunday, May 4th, at 9:00am for instruction Sunday, May 18th, at 9:00am for instruction Saturday, May 31st at 12:30pm to bake bread for the Communion Service Sunday, June 1st, Holy Communion celebration at the 10:00am service Mrs. Eebie Zobitz, a pre-school teacher by profession, and former Youth Director of Saint Peter's, will be teaching the class. The class will be 55 minutes in duration. All children in the second grade or older are invited to attend. Please rsvp by to Mrs. Zobitz at eebiesz@mac.com. 3 St. Paul s Shelter On April 7 th, thirty-five men at St. Paul s Shelter in Paterson enjoyed a hot meal of pulled pork, cole slaw, dinner rolls, salad and cookies provided by the Shearin family. Sharon and Ron Ellis have volunteered to cook on our next scheduled date of May 5 th and Duffy Bell will deliver and serve the dinner. Our parish has participated in this ministry for many years and we are looking to revitalize our commitment to provide dinner on the first Monday of each month. If you can cook and/or serve on Monday, June 9 th, or just want to learn more, please call me at Liz Irwin Shop Rite Cards Would you like to help support St. Peter's every time you buy groceries, at no cost to you? 4 Greetings! It is with deep joy that and that I write to all of you at St. Peter's and await our time together. I look forward to returning to New Jersey, while my wife, Paula, is excited to call New Jersey home for the first time. I am originally from Leonardo, New Jersey, a small town in the Sandy Hook area of Monmouth County. I received my undergraduate degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, where I majored in Religious Studies. Upon my graduation, I moved to New York City and began working at the Interfaith Center of New York, a non-profit organization that builds working-relationships among the various religious leaders and houses of worship in New York City. In 2009, I lived for three months in a Spanish monastery where I experienced a calling to the priesthood. Upon returning home in 2010, I formally began the ordination process in the Diocese Of New Jersey. This past September, Paula and I were married, and one month later I was ordained a deacon. I am currently finishing my Master of Divinity degree at the General Theological Seminary in New York City. I have particular interests in Christian spirituality and mysticism, spiritual direction and in teaching the various forms of prayer within the Christian tradition. I enjoy watching sports and traveling with Paula, as well as listening to music, reading and being outdoors. Please know that St. Peter's is in my prayers and I'm excited to see you all on June 1 st. God bless, Anthony Maundy Thursday Agape Dinner Over 35 people attended the Maundy Thursday Agape dinner and enjoyed a variety of deliciously prepared stews. A special thank you to the chefs Marillyn Rango, Carolyn Wescott, Eileen Andersen, Trish McCabe, Vince Corso; and to Peg Aery and Sue Negrotto for the wine.
