3 14 3 ST. MARY S 2009 STAFF AND VESTRY I HAD AN UNEXPECTED VISITOR THIS MORNING. HE ARRIVED EARLY, SAT DOWN WITH ME AND CHATTED FOR A WHILE ABOUT HOW THINGS WERE CURRENTLY GOING FOR ME IN MY LIFE. AFTER VERY CAREFULLY AND COMPASSIONATELY LISTENING TO ALL THAT I HAD TO SAY, HE SAW THE STRESS ON MY FACE AND THE TEARS IN MY EYES. HE STOOD UP, WALKED OVER TO ME, LEANED OVER AND GENTLY HELD ME FOR AWHILE BE- CAUSE I WAS HAVING A REALLY BAD MORNING. THEN, AFTER REASSURING ME NOT TO WORRY, THAT EVERYTHING WOULD WORK OUT FOR ME AND BE JUST FINE, HE ASKED ME IF I KNEW OF ANYONE ELSE THAT COULD USE A VISIT FROM Bishop-The Rt. Rev. The members of this ministry meet on the 4th Thursday at 1 pm for an hour of stitchery and sharing Completed shawls are available for anyone to give to someone who might be comforted with a special wrap.

4 4 WHAT HAPPENING AT ST. MARY S TODAY S DAILY WORD 13 Christmas Bazaar Soup Thur. 17th Ashton Hall 10:30 to 2 :00 pm. Come and join your friends for a bowl of soup and browse through the items you and others brought to sell at the Bazaar. The Bishop will be making a visit on the 20th. Many different activities connect me to the joy that is deep within me. Being enveloped by the silence of a snowfall may fill me with quiet joy. Listening to a choir or joining in the singing of my favorite songs may lift my spirits. The simple touch of a loved one's hand or the gentle support of a caregiver may lighten my heart. Lighting a candle, saying a prayer and blessing a meal can all be sources of joy in my day. Whatever the activity, I realize joy when my mind is fixed on finding Spirit within each of my experiences. True and lasting joy comes from within--from God, the Source of every joy. 5 12 VESTRY The regular Vestry meeting was held in October. The Treasurer reported that the new Teller system being used each is working very well and no complaints have been received. She also presented the Vestry with an advertisement for a new software package designed to handle electronically all of the necessary paper work necessary for our proper record keeping. It was also reported that the Bishop had announced at the Western Deanery Meeting that the diocese would not be increasing the Diocesan Assessment for The annual Stewardship Drive was planned and a new card design was proposed. Rev. Gretchen announced that Hand Sanitizer will be provided at each pew for those attending service. 6 6 NURSES' NOTES 11 ST MARY,S PARISHIONERS, PRAYERS The following holiday health tips are from the web site about.com, a site that specializes on health information for seniors. The two I have chosen are of special interest to those on continuing medications for chronic health issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure, etc, and are particularly pertinent for the holiday season ahead of us. Holidays often disrupt routines and may cause you to forget your life-saving medications. As you note social appointments add a reminder to take your medications or order re -fills. If you are traveling be sure to take enough medications with you in case of delays and have a copy of your prescriptions in case of loss. Be sure to take along a phone number for your doctor along with your health insurance cards, in case of emergency. Carry your medications in your carry-on luggage if you are flying.
