Hunger News Report: A GREAT RESPONSE Five grocery carts were filled in our May 2nd Sunday collection, thanks to the Girl Scouts and confirmation class members efforts! Our Pass the Plate project idea came from GS Amani Harpine of Emerald Isle. The groceries were distributed to the Carteret and Onslow county women s shelters and our own Food Pantry. Manna funds (Missions) are purchasing designated food gift cards for families at Silverdale Elementary School. Food Fact: The name of one of our more popular family events, Stop Hunger Now has been changed to Rise Against Hunger. SUMC will have one of these activities this fall. Faith & Fiction - Since our next book selection The Dove Keepers, a novel about Masada around the time of Christ, is lengthy, our next meeting will be on Monday, June 26.
