ANNOUNCEMENTS Please support the Angel Tree project directly through The Hem of His Garment. Appalachia Service Project (ASP) - ASP will be working to making homes warmer, safer, and drier in the Appalachian Mountains. This year's trip will be June 16 22; and will be in West Virginia. Youth need to be 14 or rising Freshman in high school by June 16. Interested parties should call Lance Tucker at (910) or asp@swansboroumc.org or tuckerln98@gmail.com for additional info. We are planning for over 60 volunteers to attend ASP this year and are welcoming new additions both youth and adult. Our next meeting will be on Dec. 9 at 3 pm in the Assembly Hall in Bldg 3. New volunteers interested please come to a meeting at 2:30 pm on Dec. 9 in the Assembly Hall in Building 3. Lord s Ladies Christmas Party & Dinner The Lord s Ladies is a group of women, mostly widows, who gather each Sunday after the traditional 11 am worship service to enjoy good fellowship while having lunch together. Each year, they host a Christmas Party and Dinner. This year s party will take place on Tuesday, December 18 at 5:30 pm at Swansboro Food & Beverage. It will be a Dutch treat meal (pay for your own). In lieu of gift exchanges this year, donations will be accepted for the Pastor s Discretionary Fund to help those in need. The Crystal Coast Choral Society will present A Bluegrass Choral Christmas concert Sunday, December 9 th at 3 pm in the Sanctuary. Christmas Lovefeast in the Moravian tradi on in the Sanctuary/Bldg 2 on Sunday, December 16 th at 7:00 p.m. The Lovefeast dates back to the beginning of the Chris an Church when Chris ans gathered to eat a simple meal celebra ng the love that bound them together in Christ. Youth Ski Trip (Grades 7-12) Registration for the 2019 SUMC Youth Ski Trip is officially open. The trip itself is January 24-27, Total cost is $175, and a deposit of $100 is due by December 16. Contact Pastor Andrew Harper with questions. All contributions received in the church office by noon, Dec 28, 2018 or in the Sunday offering on Dec 30, 2018 will be reflected on 2018 contribution statements. Online contributions will need to be submitted no later than Dec 27, Any contributions received after this time will be reflected on the 2019 contribution statements. 9 A Christmas Lovefeast in the Moravian Tradition December 16, O Clock The Swansboro United Methodist Church will serve a Christmas Lovefeast in the Moravian tradition in the Sanctuary/Bldg 2 on Sunday, December 16 th at 7:00 p.m. The Lovefeast dates back to the beginning of the Christian Church when Christians gathered to eat a simple meal celebrating the love that bound them together in Christ. In 1727 the Moravians revived this practice by partaking in a simple meal. The first Lovefeast in North Carolina was held in Wachovia on November 17, 1753 upon the arrival of the first Moravian colonists. The first Moravian Christmas Lovefeast in North Carolina was held at Bethabara in The service will include music by our Chancel Choir and musical accompaniment by our SUMC Instrumental Ensemble. The traditional sweetened coffee as well as the spicy-sweet Moravian buns will be served. The service will close with lighting the Moravian beeswax candles which are trimmed in red crepe paper reminding us all that Christmas celebrates the love that Christ brought into the world and that we are the light of the world.
