2 Announcements Praise and Prayers Thanks to Rev. John Swoyer for leading us in worship this morning. Please remember Orv Van Roekel during his recovery time after surgery. Also, remember Carole Roos as she is now home and recovering from her hospital stay. Next Sunday s Minister Next Sunday we will be welcoming Rev. Perry De Groot from Spencer to lead us in worship. Wednesday Night Worship We will be meeting this week Wednesday night. The family meal consisting of Ham, potatoes, applesauce, and dinner roll will begin at 6 pm. Worship time begins at 6:30 pm. Lessons for all ages start at 6:45 pm and go until 7:30 pm. Sunday School Teachers Needed Please prayerfully consider being a teacher for our 13 week session of Sunday School. During these weeks you will take the kids on a journey through the Lord s Prayer with fun activities. If you are willing to teach full time or even co-teach, please sign up on the sheet by the mailboxes. If you have any questions or would like to see the teachers book, please let Joselle know. Thank you! Potluck Sunday We will be having Potluck Sunday On Jan 29, 2017, starting at noon. Couples please bring 1 hot and 1 cold dish. Single s please bring either a hot or a cold dish. Please come and join us for a time of fellowship. 4 th -6 th Grade Winter Retreat Have a 4 th 6 th grader who just can t stop talking about camp? Send them to our Winter Retreat on Feb 17 th -18 th! They will reunite with Summer Staffers & Friends they made at camp! Make sure they bring their winter gear! Habitat for Humanity Are you or someone you know in need of a safe, decent and affordable place to live? Siouxland Habitat for Humanity is accepting partner family applications for our homeownership program for a home in Sioux Center. 3 Consistory Notes January Elders: All members present. Troy Van Beek our supervisor was present in the absence of an installed pastor. Muryl had devotions on authentic community followed with prayer. MMSC to approve the December minutes. Muryl will be attending the special Classis meeting in Sibley on Jan. 31, 2017; it is strongly encouraged to have as many attend this that can. It was decided the Elders will rotate on Sunday morning introducing the visiting Pastor, have praise and prayer concerns and announcements. If you know of someone in the hospital or in need you can call the church phone and it will be automatically be transferred to Muryl s cell. This will be listed in the bulletin also so anyone having a prayer concern can get a hold of Muryl. Muryl had a phone visit with Ken Neevel (Director of Development & Facilitation for RCA), they visited about transform and transforming and T&T visioning which will meet Jan. 21 with Jill Versteeg and the Discipleship Learning Community will meet Jan. 28 th at Trinity. The Constitutional Question-Are you aware of anyone in the congregation in the need of spiritual guidance/help was asked and answered satisfactorily. MMSC to adjourn, Pastor Troy closed with prayer. Full Consistory: All members present. Muryl lead devotions Share the Irresistible Story of Jesus by David Eshelman. Many church problems arise because a lack of vision. Vision does at least 4 things: Vison increases energy and moves people into action, they can see where they are supposed to go, why they are giving their time and energy for ministry Vison increases ownership Vision provides focus Vision assists evaluation, unless there is honest evaluation the vision will not succeed Every leader must have faith and vison. Bible reference Numbers General and Benevolent reports were reported MMSC to approve. Fellowship is planning a potluck January 29. Worship is planning the Table of 8 that evening. It is encouraged that as many Elder/Deacons attend the Classis meeting. Muryl reported pulpit supply is full thru the end of June with the exception of a couple of Sundays that he is waiting to hear back on. MMSC to approve the contract with Bunkers Lawn Care for fertilizing & weed control for 4 applications totaling $ Old Business: The pastoral search process was discussed with the question where is God leading this church ; we need to bathe this process in prayer. Each consistory member is to come up with five names by the next meeting who they think should be on the committee. They must be a member of our church and all age groups shall be represented. New Business: Elder/Deacon care lists will be updated. Chris Diekevers closed with prayer.
