2 FJB s BLOG Dear Parishioners, The children have been back in school for just over a month, and life at the parish is as busy as ever with lots and lots going on. I want to highlight a few things in which you may be interested: 40 Days for Life: The next campaign starts this Wednesday, September 27 and goes until November 5. I strongly encourage you to join other Christians for 40 Days for Life 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion. You re also invited to stand and peacefully pray anytime between 7 am to 7 pm during the 40- day vigil in the public right-of-way outside Preterm Shaker Blvd, Cleveland, WEBSITES: FJB Men s Group: One of my favorite things is that every Saturday, a group of guys come together, and we reflect on the Scriptures and on being men. It is every Saturday at 9:00 am in the parish office. It is a great opportunity for men to get together and just share their faith with other men. You can come just once or every Saturday. Just stop in. I am there almost every Saturday. Men of all ages and places in life attend. It has become a source of strength for so many men in our parish and surrounding communities. Bring a friend! MOMS after Mass: This is a group of moms who meet every Tuesday following the 8:00 am school Mass. They reflect on the Scriptures, being women, and being moms. They bring their young children, and there are toys and snacks. It is an opportunity for women to share in the awesome and greatest choice in life, to be moms. They support one another in their faith journey in life. You are welcome to join them, just contact Kate at kfraser@srweuclid.cc or for more information. Women s Fellowship: This is a group of women who meet the second Saturday of every month. They have a speaker to discuss various topics in spirituality/faith especially as it relates to women and their journey. They share in their common Christian sisterhood. Check out the bulletin for their invites or call Renée Barber at the parish office for more information. Choir: It is said that when you sing, you pray twice. Who among us could not use extra prayers? Our music ministry continues to grow, and we are looking for more voices and instrumentalists to add to our worship. This is a wonderful way to get involved because you are already at Mass. Call Kyle Lorek at the parish office or him at klorek@srweuclid.cc. This is just a small glimpse of the many opportunities that you have for getting involved in the parish. I strongly encourage you to do so as it is a wonderful opportunity to grow in your faith and get to know other people. Sometimes people tell me no one asked them; well, consider this your invitation! I wish I could personally invite each person, but that is just not possible. So as you read this consider this my personal invitation to get involved. Thank you so much for your extreme generosity to our brothers and sisters in Texas, the Caribbean, and Florida who have been affected by the recent hurricanes. At the end of the month we will forward a check to the Diocese of Cleveland who will be distributing it directly to the Dioceses affected. We will also be giving 25% of the money collected to the Knights of Columbus in those areas to use to help rebuild lives of the people affected. Walking with Purpose WWP is a Catholic Bible study that aims to bring women to a deeper, personal relationship with Christ through personal study and small group discussions that link our everyday challenges with solutions given to us through the teachings of Christ and the Catholic Church. We will meet Thursday evenings, from 7:30-9:00 pm beginning October 19th. Join us for an Open House on Thursday, October 8:00 pm in the Upper Hall to learn more about WWP & Keeping in Balance. 4 SPIRITUAL Women s Fellowship No matter your faith, your faith community, or extent of your faith, SRW s Women s Fellowship invites you to join us the 2nd Saturday of the month in the Upper Hall from 9:00-11:00 am. We host a variety of programs to pique your interest and provide an opportunity for heart-warming fellowship. Take a break from the humdrum and meet us for coffee and faith enrichment. Call Renée Barber, for further information. RCIA: Invite Someone to Come and See. When Jesus saw two of John the Baptist s disciples following him, he asked them, What are you looking for? When they asked him where he was staying he gave them an invitation: Come, and you will see. With those words he was inviting them into a relationship with him. You may know someone who is looking for a simple invitation that could be the beginning of a relationship with Jesus Christ. Invite him/her to come and see what the Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) is all about. Our first session is Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 10:00 am in the rectory.
