2 Dear Parishioners, FJB s Blog Happy Mothers Day! I wish a very happy day to all the Moms, Grandmothers, Godmothers, Step-Mothers, and women who play that motherly role in someone s life. It does not seem enough to honor you on just one day, as you do so much for all of us! We are blessed. Through the intercession of the Blessed Mother, Mary, may you always play well that special role in someone s life, and may you always be blessed for it. As a token of our appreciation, all women will receive a flower as they leave church today. Thank you to the anonymous donor who always funds this treat for the Moms. It is a (small but) profound gesture to show our love. In addition all the Masses this weekend are being offered for Mothers, living and deceased. Fr. Scott and I are so blessed by so many women of the parish who mother us each and every day. Speaking of Moms we recently updated the speakers in the Cry Room of the church. The cry room is the Ursuline Chapel that is to the right of the sanctuary behind the Tabernacle. It is a small chapel but doubles as a room to take babies and children who are fussing. The speakers in there were the original and over 50 years old. They crackled quite a bit. The new speakers now enable all the words of the Mass and the music to be heard. Also, two years ago we added changing tables to all the restrooms, including the Men s (hint, hint dads :-) ). I hope all these improvements help families with children, especially young children, to feel at home and comfortable at Mass. I sense that a lot of young families feel very comfortable in our parish and so much at home! We want to continue to encourage that welcoming feeling. Next weekend we have two wonderful opportunities: We will offer another opportunity to support Catholic Charities here in the Diocese of Cleveland. All pledges will be invested in a critical need that is supported through Catholic Charities the Opioid Crisis. Also, through the generosity of a donor, all new, increased, or additional gifts to Catholic Charities this weekend at our parish will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $100,000. Envelopes will be in the pews, and I encourage you to make a donation. There are too many people facing this opioid crisis. It is destroying lives and families. Please be as generous as you can be. Second, we have been working to invite people to Mass. As I have shared in the past, a recent research study found that 50% of people who do not attend Mass have said they would attend if a family member or friend invited them. Next weekend is also Pentecost weekend. Pentecost is when the Apostles were given the gift of the Holy Spirit and were sent out to make disciples of all nations. Each and every one of us has a mandate from Jesus Christ to continue this mission. Once we come to know Jesus Christ and accept the gift of our salvation we are called to share it. We are called to meet people where they are and help them to take the next step towards living in the light and truth of Jesus. Even if someone is struggling or not on the right path, invite him/her. Without judging, invite them to Mass and help them to take the first step in coming to know Jesus better. Invite them to any Mass next weekend, but know that at the 11 am and 6 pm we will have a reception and special gift for each guest who comes to Mass at those times. Extend the invitation. The worst they can say is no. Also, next Saturday, May 19, Deacon Mike Feldtz, who has been with us this past year, will be ordained by Bishop Perez as Fr. Mike Feldtz. The ordination Mass is open to the public and will be held at St. John Cathedral at 10 am. Free parking is available in the cathedral garage. I really encourage you to attend. Fr. Mike will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving here at SRW on June 3 at 11 am. We will host a reception after. Enjoy Mothers Day! Make it a great week. See you in Church! Peace, Fr. John

Our mission is to foster student success by providing a nurturing environment focusing on faith, academics, and service. SPRING COMMUNITY EVENT SATURDAY, MAY 26 9:00 AM NOON SHORE CULTURAL CENTRE Our Christ on Your Corner Ministry is happy to invite you to our next move off the corner of E. 260th and Forestview and on to the property of Shore Cultural Centre! We will assist Shore Executive Director, Laura Kidder, in cleaning and beautifying the grounds in preparation for Euclid s Memorial Day celebration. We will meet at SRW parking lot at 8:45 am to pick up supplies and then move on to Shore. Please join us for this next opportunity to be Christ s presence in the community! In order to better plan for the event we are asking everyone to sign up by calling the rectory at and leaving a message on extension 262 or at the Information Desk after any weekend Mass. Hope you can make it! Baby Corner Next Weekend, May 19 & 20, Donations of spring/summer baby clothing, bedding, and diapers may be placed in the bassinet in the church vestibule. We collect new or gently used items for newborn babies to children 18- months old. Donations are delivered to and gratefully received by Birthright on E. 185th Street. A Letter To The Students Before the new school year began, every teacher and staff member wrote a letter to the students he/she will be working with at Ss. Robert and William Catholic School. The letter includes the hopes and dreams each has for the students during the school year. This letter was written by Mrs. Kelly Drinkwater. Mrs. Drinkwater teaches the Jr. Warriors, the students in our all day PreK class. Dear Junior Warrior, I want you to know that the most rewarding aspects of being a PreK Teacher is the privilege of watching you learn and grow in your new environment. My wish for you is to see God's light and love in your world, in yourself, and in others. I can certainly see God's light in you! I want you to know how special you really are! Your smile really brightens my day! I want you to know that no matter what you say or do, you are cared about every moment of every day. No matter what kind of day you have, good or bad, you are always loved. I believe that you can make good choices, be kind to others, and do your personal best. FAITH FORMATION Catholic Charities Annual Appeal As in the past, an in-pew commitment process will take place next weekend, May All who have not received the mailing from Bishop Perez, or have not had a chance to respond to it, will be asked to consider making a generous pledge to support the ministries and services provided by Catholic Charities. A portion of this appeal will be used for expanded treatment services for the opioid crisis. It is imperative that we create more treatment options, allow for easier access, and become restorative agents in the communities within our diocese.
