2 Dear Parishioners, FJB s Blog Happy June! Happy Feast of the Body & Blood of Christ. Normally on this feast we have a parishioner speak on his/her personal experience with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. It is not possible this year with all the events going on in the parish. However, we are so lucky to have Perpetual Adoration! Hundreds and hundreds of prayers are prayed every day in the chapel. In our modern world there is so much noise, so much chaos, that the silence before our Lord Jesus can be so beautiful. I really encourage you to consider giving an hour. Even if you cannot commit to a regular hour I encourage you to call the parish office to arrange an orientation and learn the protocol of accessing the chapel. This is such an important opportunity for prayer. Sitting before the Lord in the Holy Eucharist and praying in silence can be so fruitful. Fr. Scott and I, along with any seminarians living with us, pray before the Eucharist each Monday. I plan on continuing this tradition with Fr. Tim and Fr. Thom. This weekend we welcome back Deacon Mike, now Fr. Mike Feldtz, to celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving with us. Fr. Mike did his field education work with us this past year. He is a great guy, and I am so happy to call him a brother priest. The parish is giving him a Green vestment with our parish name in it. Our tradition is to give a Green vestment with our parish name in it to any seminarian who gets ordained. Every time he wears it he will pray for us! You are aware the Bishop named me Administrator of St. John of the Cross Parish up the hill as of May 1. I recently met with members of the Bishop s staff, and they asked that we think outside the box and work to create a Shared Pastorate between Ss. Robert & William and St. John of the Cross. In other words, he would name me pastor of both parishes. He is asking me to implement this model over the next six to twelve months and has assigned two vicars to assist me. While Fr. Tim and Fr. Thom will be assigned to just SRW for now, it is with the understanding that they assist me with the Sacramental and pastoral work at St. John of the Cross. As I mentioned, the Bishop has asked us to create this model over the next six to twelve months. Fr. Dan Schlegel, the Vicar for Clergy and Religious for the Diocese of Cleveland, will be doing a presentation to our parishioners here at Ss. Robert & William on Tuesday, June 5 at 7:00 pm in the Church. He will share with you the overview of the plan and answer any questions or concerns you may have. If at all possible, I ask that you plan to attend this meeting. Fr. Scott, the Parish Staff, Finance Council, and Parish Council will all be here as well. I will be attending the same meeting at the same time at St. John of the Cross. Sr. Rita Mary Harwood, Secretary for Parish Life, will be presenting there. I am really excited about all the possibilities ahead. I love a good challenge, and I love thinking outside the box. While it will be a lot of work, I love work! I believe that, with the incredible staffs, councils, volunteers, and parishioners of both parishes, we will continue to grow the Catholic faith in our area of Euclid and surrounding communities. I believe TOGETHER we can continue our spiritual journey. The sad day is approaching when Fr. Scott will complete his term here at SRW and move to St. Mary in Hudson. On June 10 at the 11 am Mass, Fr. Scott will preside and preach a Mass of Thanksgiving and Farewell. Afterward we will have a picnic. Fr. Scott has brewed a farewell beer to serve at the picnic. Scott, if you have pictures or memories you would like to be added into the book please Nate Raddell: nraddell@srweuclid.cc IRISH PALLOTTINE FATHERS MISSION APPEAL On the weekend of June 30 July 1, Fr. Mariano Pinasco, S.A.C. will visit the parish to speak at all Masses about the missionary work of the Irish Pallottine Fathers in Tanzania, Kenya and Colombia. The second collection taken up will be to support their work of evangelization and development in those countries. Please be generous in your support of their missionary outreach. The Pallottine Fathers were founded in Rome in 1835 by Saint Vincent Pallotti. He was a priest in the Diocese of Rome. He founded this religious community to encourage the apostolate of the laity and to promote the missionary work of the Church. Father Pinasco is currently Professor of Church History at the Pallottine Institute in Santa Maria, Brazil. He is a native of Argentina. He holds a Doctorate in Church History from Gregorian University in Rome. Ss. Robert & William Parish is hosting a blood drive on Sunday, June 3 from 9:45 AM to 12:45 PM in the gym. The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland s Welcoming the Stranger Committee created the Parish Companion Program to assist families who will soon be separated by deportation. Many times, parents are forced to leave their children in the United States and require assistance navigating the legal process, establishing guardianship, transferring assets, accessing community resources, and providing assistance to the children left behind. The Diocese is looking for willing individuals who will share their talents to support our Catholic brothers and sisters whose families are impacted by deportation. Recently recognized for her work with Catholic Relief Services, Kelly would like to share with you A Journey into the Unknown a voyage of unexpected twists and turns. FAITH FORMATION Mass Intentions Mass intentions are available year round. The book no longer opens March 1. Instead, Mass intentions are available 18 months out from the date you schedule the Mass intention. Please remember, we can schedule no more than 3 Masses per year for the same person. Mass Intentions can be for the deceased or the living. The suggested donation is $10. Vacation Bible School 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration The Department of Marriage and Family Ministry, the office of Worship, and the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist are pleased to announce the 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration. The Mass will be held on Sunday July 30th in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Mass will begin at 2:30 pm. PARISH CODE FOR FORMED: BJTWMW SRW Outreach Once again, we are hosting our annual fresh produce distributions this summer, and volunteers are needed to help bag and distribute food. The distribution dates are June 25, July 30, and August 27. Assistance is needed from 3:00-6:00 pm in the school parking lot. Student volunteers in grades 7 and above are invited to join us.
