ABOUT OUR WORSHIP We welcome the Chancel Choir, returning after an extended summer break, directed by our new Interim Choral Director Bryon Grohman. A member of the voice faculty at Wake Forest University, Bryon is active both as a church musician and solo performer of opera, oratorio, and ensemble repertoire. He and his wife, Kristin Brouwer, have four daughters ranging from age 2 through 8. Printed music used by permission of OneLicense.net #A BENEVOLENCE OFFERING On Communion Sunday, a benevolence offering is taken to help with needs in the Knollwood family and wider community. Ushers will be in the narthex following worship to receive donations. FLOWERS The flowers in the sanctuary are given to the glory of God and in memory of Thelma Huff by her daughter, Glenna. The white rose on the altar is given by Knollwood Baptist Church in memory of Edythe Harden. It is a symbol of the love and esteem in which she was held by this community of faith. ABOUT OUR BANNERS The way is a familiar biblical theme encompassing such truths as the way of the Lord (Isaiah 40:3), Jesus as the way (John 14:6), and the way as a description of Christian discipleship (Acts 9:2). The words on the banner point to the movements of faith: Longing for God that impels us forward in the spiritual journey; Learning the way of the Scriptures and the way of Jesus; Loving as our love for God and our neighbors deepens; and Living as we live out of Christian faith and witness in the world. The colors of the banner emphasize green for ordinary time, the period in the church year between Pentecost and Advent. The artist who designed and painted the banners is our own Bambi Setzer. FOR THE CHILDREN Worship Care is provided for children, infant - kindergarten aged on the first floor of Building B. Children s Worship meets on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of the month for 1st through 3rd graders. During the second hymn, children meet their leaders in the narthex to walk together to B244. After the service, parents pick up their children from B244. Contact chrissy@knollwood.org to volunteers to help chaperone the children during this time. For the 2nd and 4th Sundays children are invited to enjoy the worship service with their families. Children s activity bulletins and crayons are available in the narthex. Listening When Much Is At Stake: Biblical Insights Bring your Bible to church (or find one available when you arrive) and be ready to hear thoughtful scriptural interpretation from Knollwood members--each reflecting on how the Bible inspires listening, especially when something vital is at stake. Leaders will include Brent Martin, Ted Daugherty, Rebecca Neiberg, Kevin Mauney, Jennifer Schwartz, and Bob Setzer. In the fellowship hall. All are welcome. Option 2. Scrapbooking and Journaling our Faith Creatively use your pictures and memorabilia to record and reflect upon life experiences and faith.
