We invite members and visitors to be seated near the front of the sanctuary to enhance our sense of community in worship. When you have taken your seat, spend a few moments in quiet reflection as you prepare your heart for worship. If the service has already begun, please enter quietly by one of the side aisles. 6 Today s sanctuary flowers are given in loving memory of Buford Dixon by Lucy Dixon and daughters Karen Hodges and Elizabeth Fresh. We welcome Sarah, our guest violinist, to worship this morning. Sarah is a rising sophomore at Broughton High School. She has been playing violin for nine years and is a member of the Triangle Youth Symphony. Her proud parents are Gordon and Lora. Dr. Mike Cogdill has joined us for the summer as our Sabbatical Pastor. We are excited to hear him preach the word of God and to get to know him as he aids in many of our ministries. Welcome, Mike! SPECIAL MEMORIAL GARDEN CHALLENGE A Secret Encourager wants to increase the value of your gift to the Memorial Garden Fund. We have had someone offer to match the accumulated value of NEW GIFTS up to $15,000. The gifts must be given between July 12 and July 26 to be eligible for matching funds. Please give now to help the Memorial Garden Fund grow into a reality. MINISTERIAL PRAYER CARDS Summer Prayer Cards can be found around the church and in the front of the Friendship Pad in each pew in the Sanctuary. Please fill out these cards with needs that you would like our Ministerial Staff to pray over. They will meet throughout the summer in times of focused prayer over the needs of the congregation. You can also find an online Prayer Request form under the Contact menu on our website: REFRESH This summer, we are challenged to REFRESH our lives, and what a challenge that can be! How do you plan to refresh? Will you take some time away from your daily activities and head off on vacation? Will you just slow down a little? Will you put in place a new spiritual discipline? Might you take time to drive a different way to work or church asking God to show you something new? Maybe you will breathe a little more? Share your REFRESHing stories: Kristen Muse (kmuse@hbbc.org), or fill out one of the cards in the pew pad. REFRESHING OUR CAMPUS If you ve been on the church campus over the past weeks, you may have noticed a number of changes taking place. Sunday School classrooms, bathrooms and hallways are being painted and cleaned. The kitchen has been deep cleaned and the pantry has been redone... and these are just some of the refreshing changes taking place. We are so thankful that God has provided a beautiful and functional space for the ministries of HBBC and so many community members to use every week, and we re grateful for the efforts of the Capital Priorities Task Force and the Buildings and Grounds Committee Members who have worked hard to get these projects planned and executed. NEWS FROM THE CRC This summer we launched the first ever summer reading program for kids at HBBC. The Ice Cream Social program had been a huge success. In the month of June the participating children read over 100 books! What an amazing accomplishment! Children earn tickets for reading books, doing a reading bingo, writing book reports and/or answering weekly questions. At the end of each month a ticket will be drawn for a prize. Congratulations to the participants for their great job!! DR. COGDILL S SCHEDULE We are so thankful to have Dr. Mike Cogdill as our Sabbatical Pastor this summer. He will be available in the church office on Wednesdays for visitation and conferences.
