The Baptist General Association of Virginia and World Vision are working together to take serious the Biblical mandate to welcome strangers among us. Recently a 40 hour course was held to equip Baptist volunteers to work with immigration attorneys to offer

3 support. We are thankful for the iniatives the General Board has taken and need to support it with our prayers. To learn more on this topic to go to Offertory We Gather Together Arr. Ford, L. Davidson, R. Williams Hurrican Matthew Response - 1. Virginia Baptists continue to support the work of North Carolina Baptists with a feeding unit in Rocky Mount, NC. They prepare and serve up to 3,000 meals a day. They have partnered with the local Red Cross to deliver hot meals to shelter for people flooded out of their homes. You can get an up to date report online at and hear a report from Lowell Brummett from Cool Spring Baptist Church in Mechanicsville. 2. We need to pray for volunteers to come help with clean-up and serving the physical needs of everyone in the flood ravaged areas. Let s pray for their protection from injury and diseases that so often occur. Pray for the ones left homeless that their faith will be strong.

5 3. Samaritan s Purse has disaster relief volunteers in NC as well as in Haiti and other Caribbean countries. Samaritan s Purse has a goal of collecting shoeboxes for 12 million children this Christmas. Since 1993, 135 million boxes have been distributed. Our gifts are combined with others from 10 other countries. Over 500,000 volunteers including 150,000 in the US will be involved in collecting, shipping, and distributing the boxes. Let s pray for this effort and you can help by donating the $7 needed ship each box. LUNCH A MONTH BUNCH: The November lunch for all ladies in GABC will be at Debbie s Kitchen on Tuesday, November 15 at 1:00 p.m. Any questions, please call Chris Rogers ( home/cell ) or Joyce Hall ( ). We had 11 attending the October luncheon at Olive Garden. Remember all are welcome. Mark your calendar for December 11, 2016 at GABC A free concert will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. It will feature Aricka Parent, Soprano and Janet Kessler, Piano. Thanksgiving Boxes It's that time again to plan for our GABC donation of Thanksgiving Boxes to Interfaith Services of Henrico. The ladies in GABC will be collecting your donation until November Make your check payable to GABC marked Thanksgiving Boxes. 7 YOUTH NEWS Youth Thanksgiving Bake Sale is right around the corner! We will have our Bake Sale next Sunday, November 20. Save yourself some time this holiday season and purchase a cake/pie/dessert from our Youth Dept., which helps the out with their mission projects. Items are normally sold before SS, in between SS and Worship, and after Worship if anything is left. Also, anyone willing to help make something and help with the event is always very much appreciated!
