Your support and the love and grace of God helped Puddin pull through this very trying sickness. We had 22 attending the June luncheon at Debbie s Kitchen. Let s aim for at least that many again. Everyone seemed to have a great time and we were very happy to have Dr Norman join us. 5 Our annual Pignic/BBQ & Quarterly Business Meeting will be held at GABC on Wednesday, July 20 (complimentary meal) at 5:45 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, followed by the Quarterly Business Meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Please join us for good food, fellowship and good fun.!!! We now have a full roster for the Donut List. They can be given directly to Jaime Tonello or Amy Smith. They can also be left in the VBS mailbox. Thank you! Notice: Due to unforeseen circumstances, Adult and Teen Bible Study will be canceled during VBS. Perhaps, you would like to use your talents to volunteer for VBS? Glen Allen Baptist s Vacation Bible School Sunday, July 24 - Thursday, July 28, Complimentary Dinner 5:15-6:00pm Bible Study & Activities 6:00-8:10pm Potty Trained Children ages 3 through adults are welcome to join us as we are submerged into the life of Jesus. This Faith Night is especially special because Tom Ball s band, Day 4, will be performing that evening. This is a youth sponsored event, but we would love to welcome anyone and everyone from the church who would like to participate. This is a great time of fun, fellowship, Christian music, player testimonials and more. Tickets are $8 per person. We will meet at GABC at 5:00 PM on August 11 th. Please let B.J. know if you would like to attend by Sunday, July 24th. Youth Camping Retreat date has been set. The annual youth camping retreat will be held on September The location will be in Williamsburg, VA. We already have 28 folks signed up to attend. This will be a great time of fun, fellowship, and worship throughout the weekend. Please let B.J. know by August 1 st if you plan on attending. All rising 6 th graders are encouraged to attend! 10 THE REVEREND ROBERT J. LEWIS PULPIT GUEST With joy and thanksgiving we welcome to the Glen Allen Baptist pulpit, our neighbor who lives just off Mountain Road in the Mountain Glen neighborhood, the Reverend Robert J. Lewis, who retired after a fourteen year pastorate at Lakeside Baptist Church. Previously, he served for fifteen years as pastor of Gordonsville Baptist Church in Gordonsville and earlier as associate minister of Bayside Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. Rev. Lewis was graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts degree and received his master s degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He has received advanced clinical pastoral education at Central State and Norton Children s Hospitals in Louisville and the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He is a volunteer chaplain at Henrico Doctor s Hospital. He is active in the denominational affairs of the Richmond Baptist Association, the Baptist General Association of Virginia, and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. His sermons have been published and he has written widely for the Sunday School Commentary for the Religious Herald. His lovely wife is Mary Ann, a native of Panama City, Florida, who just retired from teaching Spanish at Orange County High School. Their daughter, Annie lives and works in Florida and is a graduate of Vanderbilt and Johns Hopkins Universities; son, Scott, resides in Petersburg and is a graduate of Roanoke College. Dr. Norman says Bob Lewis is a splendid and long-standing friend, a remarkably gifted preacher and pastor, a man of sterling character and ability. I commend him to Glen Allen Baptist and regret only that I will not be able to be blessed and strengthened by his worship leadership.
