So, let us sing and be happy no matter what our circumstances are, and we too can be lifted up, and hopefully we will encourage others in song.

1 SING and MAKE MELODY We often hear the expression: Singing is good for the Soul. The Apostle Paul in writing to the Church at Ephesus encourages the Church to be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in Psalms and Hymns, and Spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. One of the natural outcomes of being filled with the Spirit is singing and making melody to God. Psalms are naturally from Psalms, Hymns compositions are addressed directly to God like How Great Thou Art ; and, spiritual songs are about the Christian experience like Amazing Grace. In our daily walk singing will lift our spirits and just makes for a better day. No matter what our circumstances are, singing can lift our spirit. Two examples I can think of: 1) the Blacks, when they were in slavery, kept their faith and sang a lot of Negro Spirituals, and to this day they love to sing 2) The coal miners in Kentucky were poor and oppressed, but those people too sang to lift their spirits. Out of that came a lot of Blue Grass music. So, let us sing and be happy no matter what our circumstances are, and we too can be lifted up, and hopefully we will encourage others in song. It serves as a great reminder of how important children are to the life of the Church. *To the parents of young children*: May we suggest Relax! God put the wiggle in our children; don t feel you have to suppress it in His house. All are welcome. Sit toward the front where it is easier for your little ones to see and hear what s going on. They tire of seeing the backs of others heads. Quietly explain the parts of the service and actions of the song leader, preacher and others. Sing the songs, read along in your Bible and pray. Children learn behavior by copying you. If you have to leave the service with your child, feel free to do so; but please come back. As Jesus said, Let the little children come to me. (Matthew 19:14) Remember that the way we welcome children in our worship directly affects the way they respond to the Church, to God and to one another. Let them know that they are at home in this place of worship. *To the members of the church:* The presence of children is a gift to the Church, and they are a reminder that our congregation is growing.
