Greg Boykin, son of Sarah Boykin, is now at Northside Rehab, room 309. Lillian Whitworth, mother of Pat Bowen, is recovering from a fracture in her back. Don Henard has been sick with pneumonia. Joyce Leonard is back at home after having surgery to remove part of her lung due to cancer. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday, November 7 at New Testament Christian Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, November 12 at New Union Church of Christ in Manchester, TN where family will receive friends at 4:00pm. Services will be conducted at 5:30pm by Brother Charles Williams Our sympathy is also extended to Frances Richards and family due to the death of her sister, Marcella Burgess. 3 Jamie s Journal There is One Church I heard it again; this time at the barbershop. It is a phrase that I believe will be banished in the confines of hell, for it will be a painful reminder of a falsehood. That phrase goes something like, "It (denominations) really doesn't matter, because we are all trying to get to the same place (heaven), and we are just taking different roads to get there." Friend, it does matter. I heard a gospel preacher ask three questions regarding the church: 1) How many churches did Jesus promise? 2) How many churches did Jesus establish? 3) How many churches did Jesus say He was coming back to save? 1) Jesus promised to build His church (that's singular) - Matt. 16: ) Jesus established one church - Isaiah 2:2-3 - it began on the day of Pentecost, in Jerusalem (Luke 24:46-47; Acts 2:41,47), and continues today, for He said death (the gates of Hades) would never overpower it. 3) He is coming back for His body, as He is the Savior of the body (Eph. 5:23). There is only one body (Eph. 4:4), and He will deliver it to the Father when the end comes (I Cor. 15:24). It should break our hearts to see so many people blindly follow a phrase, which cannot be found on any page of holy Scripture. May we never give a nod of agreement or a smile of politeness upon hearing it, so as not to be misunderstood as to agreeing with it. Rather, may we be kind and humble enough to show them what Jesus said. Brotherly, Jamie Weekly Memory Verse: And now why tarriest thou?
