THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM: First & Third Sundays at 1:00 PM. Expectant parents may contact the Rectory Office to arrange for the baptism seminar class on the fourth Monday of every other month. The class is held in the Rectory, at 7:30 PM. Adults are baptized and confirmed at the Easter Vigil after completing the stages of the Rite of Christian Initiation. RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults: A process for those who wish to enter the Catholic Faith, or for present Catholic individuals who after being baptized may need to receive the sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. For more information, please call the Rectory Office. THE SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY: Since Catholic marriage requires a time of preparation, arrangements should begin at least six months before the proposed date of the wedding to allow for the Marriage Preparation Program and Natural Family Planning (NFP). It is required that either the bride or groom must be a registered and practicing member of Immaculate Conception Church. PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK: If you are planning to enter the hospital for surgery, experiencing a prolonged or serious illness, or are very weak due to advancement of age, please call the Parish Rectory to arrange for the sacraments of reconciliation, communion and anointing at home. Communal anointing of the sick is celebrated at mass during the Advent and Lenten seasons. Please notify us of any hospitalization so that we may be of assistance. 2 October 28, 2018 Dear Friends in Christ, Included with your bulletin this weekend is an insert regarding Flocknote, a text messenger service that years ago was introduced to Immaculate and is now being rebooted. It is vital that every parishioner takes a few moments to join. If you joined years ago, please rejoin since all prior information was deleted. This texting and service will be the official announcement from Immaculate to parishioners whenever we need to inform you immediately with an important announcement. Most importantly, to notify parishioners in the winter months that the 7:30 Cove Church mass is moving to the main church, families being notified that School of Religion classes are cancelled, or any pressing news that needs to get to parishioners ASAP. The program will also be used to contact parishioners who are part of any ministry. Once you follow the simple instructions listed in the flyer, you will have the option of joining the various parish groups that are listed on the parish homepage. Thirtieth Sunday In Ordinary Time PLEASE take a few moments when you return home to join. Again, this will be the only way parishioners will be told of any mass changes during inclement weather. This is vitally important to our Cove Church regulars. Next Sunday we will have our monthly Family mass followed by our hospitality breakfast in the school gym. Our eighth graders will host the mass and they will be presented to the parish as our Confirmation Candidates who will spend this year in their final preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation next year. We have seen an early start to the cold weather. As you have been hearing me coughing away through masses and my homilies, I am pleased to say it s been much better this past week. I would love to thank so many of you who drove to the rectory with soups, tea, cough drops and most lovingly your prayers. So many of us are going through this coughing period. I have certainly united with all of you who have. Hang in there, 124 days till Spring! Then we get to suffer through the Allergy Season! May God continue to bless us all in His mercy, -Fr. Herbert T. Page 3 YOUTH CHRISTMAS PLAY UPDATE CASTING & INFORMATION MEETING MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5 TH 7:00 p.m. IN THE CHURCH All students, grades 1 12 are welcome to join in Immaculate Conception's First Annual Youth Christmas Play. There will be an important information and casting meeting on Monday, November 5 th at 7 PM in the church. It's VERY important for all who want to participate, sing and/or help to attend. As previously announced, the number of practices will be kept to a minimum. I know many of you have previous commitments but if you want to participate and cannot attend this meeting, please contact me so you can be included. Also, please join Mrs. Marino for choir practice on Thursdays from 6:15 to 7 PM in the church. The Christmas Songs for the play will be included in choir practice. This is a great way for our youth to gain confidence, participate in an organization and meet friends. In order to make this a success we need your participation. To sign up or for additional information please contact Cookie McGillicuddy at or cookiemcgill@gmail.com Thank you SEMI-ANNUAL BLOOD DRIVE SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 18 TH Boy Scout Troop 61 will be hosting their NY Blood center-semi Annual Blood Drive in the Immaculate Conception Parish Auditorium on Sunday,, November 18, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. An increase in demand for blood is always needed as the Holiday Season begins. Typically, at this time of year, the NY Blood Center has approximately 10,000 units on hand. Unfortunately, they recently reported only 5,900 units of life saving blood. The entire donation process takes LESS THAN AN HOUR and a single donation can be used to SAVE MULTIPLE lives. Advanced sign-ups will take place after masses on the weekend of November 10 th 11 th after mass. Please consider donating on November 18 th. Walkins are always welcome. NEWS OF INTEREST FATHER LAMORTE S FAREWELL PARTY on Sunday, November 4 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 56 West Broad Street in Haverstraw. Reservations are $35 per person.
