2 March 25, 2018 Dear Friends in Christ, Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. With those words of praise, the people welcome Jesus back to Jerusalem from the desert, and we begin the holiest of all weeks of our church year. We call today Passion Sunday. It is the passion of the Lord which dominates these final days of the season of Lent leading up to the celebration of the Easter triduum beginning Holy Thursday evening. A reminder that tomorrow, March 26th, the Archdiocese of New York and the Dioceses of Brooklyn and Rockville Centre will be hosting RECONCILIATION MONDAY. In every parish in the metropolitan area, confession will be heard. Here at Immaculate Conception, confessions will be heard from 4:00 to 6:00PM and again from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. If you are able to, please take advantage of this opportunity to be reconciled to the Father in preparation for the Glory of Easter. Confessions will be heard in the sacristy connected to our Sacred Heart Chapel. I give thanks and glory to God for your generosity! Next weekend our parish will be taking up the second most major RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS Calendar Raffle: This is the only MANDATORY fund raiser that our program has, and it is imperative that you get your money and raffles back to the PREP office ASAP. Tickets are still available at the Rectory and PREP office. Confirmation: The Confirmation application, Sponsor Certificate, Saint Report and service hours should have been submitted. The Letter to Bishop Lagonegro is due on March 27 and the $ Confirmation fee is due on April 3. Candidates, if you have any questions or problems, please come in to see Lynne DeVuono. Mite Boxes for Lenten donations for Catholic Charities are located in the back of the Church. It would be great if everybody could put their pocket change in the box. 7th Grade Families please refer to your about a meeting in the gym on April 17th Mrs. Ginny Brown, CSW for parents/guardians and their children. Palm Sunday collection of the year. It is through the generosity of the Christmas and Easter collections that a parish is able to meet its financial obligations. I do know for many of us that there is a struggle with weekly family finances. My hope is that through prayerful reflection, each family may be able to give as generously as possible so that we as a parish may we continue to flourish. I truly believe that as we give from the heart, so much more will be given back to us by way of mercy and love. I understand there was confusion last weekend with the Easter Flower Envelope. Even though there was a date printed on your envelopes, both the Easter and Christmas flower collection are by your own generosity, you are able to give to both collections during the month leading up to the holy day. The envelopes with names of loved ones, will be placed on the altar for Easter Sunday and all of the Octave Week of Easter. May God bless all of you for your generosity to your parish and the various ministries it can perform because of that generosity. - Rev. Herbert T. DeGaris HOLY WEEK SERVICES Passion (Palm) Sunday, March 25th Stony Point Church: 5:30 p.m. (Sat.) 9:30, 11:30 a.m. Tomkins Cove Church: 7:30 a.m. Monday, March 26th Confessions: 4:00-6:00 p.m. & 7:00-8:00 p.m. Holy Thursday, March 29th Tenebrae in Church: 9:00 a.m. Mass of the Lord s Supper: 8:00 p.m. Visits to Repository until 10:00 p.m. Good Friday, March 30th Tenebrae in Church: 9:00 a.m. Celebration of the Lord s Passion: 3:00 p.m. With Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion The Living Stations of the Cross 7:30 p.m. (in Church) With Music Holy Saturday, March 31st Tenebrae in Church: 9:00 a.m. Solemn Easter Vigil: 8:00 p.m. (SATISFIES SUNDAY OBLIGATION) Easter Sunday, April 1st Stony Point Church: 9:30, & 11:30 a.m. Tomkins Cove Church: 7:30 a.m.

All Golden Jubilee couples will receive a commemorative certificate. ABORTION EXPANSION LAW In his recent Budget proposal, Governor Cuomo included a radical bill (S.7511) that would expand lateterm abortions in New York State. The bill would eliminate New York's ban on late-term abortions allowing abortion for any reason in all nine months of pregnancy, empower non-doctors to perform abortions, and permit a baby born alive after an abortion to die of neglect and starvation. The enacted state budget requires three-way negotiation and must be finalized by April 1. The State Senate is our only hope to stop this tragedy. Please let your State Senator know that they must not allow the state budget to be used as a vehicle for expanding late-term abortion. For ease of communication in contacting your Senator, go to and click on "Take Action", which will provide a message you can send directly to your Senator. If you prefer to call Rep. Senator John Flanagan (Majority Leader), who will be part of the three-way negotiation, he can be reached at (631) , and say: "I am calling because Governor Cuomo included a radical abortion expansion proposal (S.7511) in his budget bills. This proposal would eliminate virtually all limitations on abortion in New York State, particularly on late-term abortions. Please insist that these abortion provisions are removed from the final budget." Our recently deceased:. Olivia Williams. We will announce at the Mass on Sunday for a period of one month the intentions of those who are sick and then we will print them for one month. After that we ask that you please contact us to make sure that they are placed on the list again for another cycle. It is the only way we know if someone has recovered. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
