WELCOME TO NEW PARISHIONERS: The Immaculate Conception community warmly welcomes you! Please introduce yourself to the celebrant of the mass you are attending as you leave the church so that, on behalf of the entire community you may be welcomed. You can register at the Parish Office and receive any information needed from the office receptionist. Kindly notify us of any change of address. MISSION STATEMENT: Immaculate Conception Parish is a Christian community of disciples in the Roman Catholic tradition, called by Jesus, united in Eucharistic worship and growing in faith, hope and love. Nourished through the sacraments and strengthened by God s transforming love, we are empowered to know the gospel message and to witness to others. As Christian stewards, we are thankful for God s many gifts and we commit ourselves to share our time, talent and treasure in Christ-like service within our parish community and beyond. We seek God s blessing and guidance to be faithful to this mission. Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time November 11, 2018
2 November 11, 2018 Dear Friends in Christ, What a joy last Sunday was. Our 9:30 Family Mass had the church so full, you would have thought it was Christmas Day two months early! Our eighth graders read and brought up the gifts, they also took part in the Enrollment Ceremony where they formally become candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation. It was so beautiful to have enjoyed our Children s Choir who sang after the reception of Holy Communion. For the last month, they have practiced on Thursdays, what a joy to have the children sing. I was told that more tables had to be put out to accommodate all of you who joined us after mass for hospitality. Again, a beautiful Sunday Breakfast was had by all! Thank you to our cooks and the Hospitality Committee for such a beautiful breakfast and gathering. Our next Family Mass will be on December 18, at the 11:30 am mass. I d like to update you with our Renew + Rebuild Campaign. This past Monday, another threshold, we have surpassed $850, To be exact, 190 families have pledged $852,305.00, this is $13,305 over our goal of $839, A last chance letter was Thirty-Second Sunday In Ordinary Time mailed out a couple of weeks ago for more families to take part in our parish campaign. I do apologize, those 190 families who gave generously also got that letter, that was an embarrassing mistake and I do apologize for that. Today, our country celebrates Veterans Day. As I have shared with you all in the past, I am the proud son of a Korean War Veteran, who served in the Air Force. We remember all our brave men and women who served our country. We give glory and thanks to God that you have all returned to family and loved ones. As a country, may we never fail to show gratitude and respect for the sacrifices so many of you made. In this month of All Souls, we remember our veterans who, like my father, who are no longer with us. May God have mercy on their souls. As we remember fondly our deceased loved ones this Month of All Souls, may they, through the mercy of God, rest in eternal peace. May God continue to bless us all in His mercy, -Fr. Herbert T. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. FOOD PANTRY NEWS FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER For the month of November the food pantry will be collecting cake mixes and frostings, corn muffin mixes, canned sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce. These items can be left in the bin in the vestibule of the Church. We will also collect turkeys and roasting chickens. These items can be brought to the rectory any weekday from 9:00 5:00, and on Fridays to our food pantry from 2:00 6:00. We will distribute Thanksgiving Bags on Friday, November 16 th. The food pantry will be closed Thanksgiving week. We are so grateful for your generosity! Through your goodness, we will be able to provide a delicious, bountiful Thanksgiving to many, many families! The flowers this week Are in loving memory of Andrew Joseph Hull Donated by the Family And Kathleen Javenes Donated by The Family THANKSGIVING MORNING MASS 9:00 a.m. NOVEMBER 22 ND Parish Mass of Thanksgiving (the only Mass that day), with music that will help us to place ourselves into the presence of God on this national day of Thanksgiving. Perhaps it is appropriate as we are going through an economic crisis to remind us of all we do have, that we should give thanks for even in the midst of the crisis that so many of us and our families are facing. We do encourage you to be with us that day. We would like to continue the tradition we started four years ago of bringing an item of food from your own dinner table to be blessed at the Mass. We will join together as God's family in church and then have the item blessed and then go to our own family's celebration. We will mention this again in the coming weeks. There is a beautiful blessing in the "Book of Blessing's that we use in our ceremony. REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS All those who are ill at home, in the hospital and in nursing homes, especially: Jack O Brien, Billy Keenan, Ed Hanus, Michael Orapello, Ruth Ann Melia, and Jaxon Waller. Our recently deceased:. We will announce at the Mass on Sunday for a period of one month the intentions of those who are sick and then we will print them for one month. After that we ask that you please contact us to make sure that they are placed on the list again for another cycle. It is the only way we know if someone has recovered. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
