Join us downstairs in Fellowship Hall between services on Sunday, Sept. 13. Various teachers and groups will be available to answer questions as you peruse the different educational offerings for adults this fall. (Adult Sunday studies will begin September 20.) You are invited to kick off the school year with free games, inflatables, food, music, and much more! HABITAT PROJECT Sat., September 19 9:00 am - 5:00 pm & Sun., September 20 After Church - 5:00 pm All members and friends of First United Methodist Church are invited to participate in this mission sponsored by Habitat for Humanity. 3 EFPN has again been selected to be a beneficiary of the Meijer Simply Give program, which runs through September 12. M i d l a n d C o u n t y Emergency Food Pantry Network You can help! Purchase a $10 Meijer Food Pantry Donation Card (available at the check-out registers), which Meijer will convert to a $10 Meijer food gift card that is given to EFPN to help stock pantry shelves. In addition, Meijer Corporation will make a contribution to EFPN. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and the Meijer Corporation, EFPN received around $4200 in Meijer gift cards during the spring 2015 campaign. Float Into Fellowship Time Sunday, September 20 10:00-11:00 am Fellowship Hall Make sure to float into Fellowship Hall on Sun., September 20. 4 NEW MEMBER CLASSES Sundays, Sept Nov :15-11:05 am Conference Room These classes will provide time for us to get to know each other and move through the progression of membership commitments. Membership vows will be taken during worship on December 6. Childcare for the classes will be provided if needed, and older children will be able to attend Sunday School classes. Please contact Rev. United Methodist Women Dinner & Program Tuesday, September 15 Fellowship Hall Dinner: 6:00 pm Program: 7:00 pm Cost: $10 All are invited to hear a presentation by David J. Law, PhD, Executive Director of the Joy-Southfield Community Development Corp. Joy-Southfield is a health and education center located on the far west side of Detroit. Among the goals of Joy- Southfield is improving the health status of the community through expanded access to primary and preventive care. They also are providing a patient home for underinsured residents of the community to aid in the management of chronic illnesses and reduce dependence on emergency departments. Learn about Joy-Southfield and enjoy a soup and salad dinner catered by Pamela Wilson. The cost of the meal is $10. 5 Financial Peace University Sundays, September 20 - November 15 6:00-8:00 pm Room 36 Cost: $102 This life-changing class is taught by Dave Ramsey and the FPU teaching team on video, and coordinated by Rev. Chuck Keyworth. It will help you achieve your financial goals by showing you how to eliminate debt, save for the future, and give like never before. You will be challenged and motivated to make a plan for your money and change your family tree forever. 6 SEASONED ADULTS FELLOWSHIP Friday, September 11 Fellowship Hall Potluck Supper: 6:15 pm Program: 7:00 pm (Bring a dish to pass and table service.) Current State of Midland Jon Lynch, Midland City Manager Jon will cover various topics concerning Midland, and answer questions. Page 6 COME & JOIN THE CHOIR! Chancel Choir Chancel Choir rehearsals will begin on September 10 at 7:30 pm in the Choir Room. We welcome anyone who loves to sing! The Choir sings most Sundays from September through May. Many voices make light work; please come when you can to praise God in song during our worship services. Wesley Men Wesley Men will resume rehearsals on September 13 at 10:20 am in the Choir Room. This Choir of men s voices sings five to six times a year. We rehearse on Sundays between services. The men have a fun time singing praise to God and learning four part men s harmony. Please come and join us! Wesley Women Wesley Women will resume rehearsals on September 17 at 6:30 pm in the Choir Room We love to sing three and four part harmony to praise our God! We also sing five to six times a year in the Sunday worship services. Please come and sing!
