All are welcome and invited to fellowship, communion, prayer and breakfast. We will learn what God s Word says about the church being a house of prayer, and then we will put what we learn into practice as we move out into the church to pray. If you have never prayed out loud, please come. If you prefer to pray alone, come. If you don t have a habit of prayer, come. We all have much to learn about prayer and we can learn and practice together! Please let us know you are coming and we will have a place set at the table for you. These classes will provide time for us to get to know each other and move through the progression of membership commitments. Membership vows will be taken during worship on June 26. There is an art to being a good neighbor, Jesus style. It s about caring for them enough to build a relationship. To develop a friendship with a missional intention with those around you. To care for their physical and spiritual needs. Can you share your story with those closest to you, and allow them to share their story with you? It is the intention of the Crossroads District of the Michigan United Methodist Church to provide and equip our congregations with basic resources for our neighbors and constituents whenever possible with the donations made. With your help, we have successfully launched eight Resource Centers located throughout Flint that provide home faucet filtration units, replacement filters, Zero-Water pitchers, cases of bottled water, and educational materials to the communities affected. Cost: $15 (for materials) If you or someone you know has experienced a significant loss in the last year and a half, why not consider being a part of this four-week support group. It will be co-facilitated by Rev. Dr. Lisa McIlvenna, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Sandy Smith, a trained Stephen Leader and Stephen Minister. Dealing with the death of a loved one can be among life s most difficult and stressful experiences. While everyone grieves differently, all experience a range of emotions that are important in healing. Research shows that those who give time and honest expression to their grief in community with others who care, listen, and understand, often are able to move through the grief in ways that bring greater healing and wholeness. 5 Neighborhood Revitalization Midland County Habitat for Humanity will be having their annual Neighborhood Revitalization project during the week of August 1-5, The mission of this project is to empower residents to revive their own neighborhoods and to enhance their quality of life. The Neighborhood Revitalization focuses on four main areas: Home Preservation, Critical Home Repair, Weatherization, and A Brush with Kindness. This year s area of focus is the Central Middle School/Fournie Park district in the City of Midland. If you live in this area, or know someone that does, and your/their home is in need of exterior repairs, contact Midland County Habitat for Humanity. Qualifications are determined by many factors including income requirements, home ownership, and more. Applications are available in the Habitat office or online. Midland County Habitat for Humanity 1703 S. Saginaw Rd., Midland, MI VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Midland County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is looking for volunteers to help supervise foster children visits with their biological parents. An interview, background clearances, and three letters of references are required. You will be trained and shadow a visitation volunteer until you are comfortable on your own. 6 Foster Homes Needed Foster homes are needed for children/youth aged 10 to 17 in Midland County. There is a need for weekend respite foster homes as well as short and long-term specialized foster care homes. Foster parents can be married or single, and lots of support, training, and flexibility is provided. Payment is also provided.
