Sing to him, sing praises to him, tell of all his wonderful works, Glory in his holy name, let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. The purpose of this event is to discuss The United Methodist Church s position on homosexuality following General Conference. This will not be a time to advance an agenda or to convince someone of the rightness or wrongness of their position, but rather to listen and speak to one another in a safe place. We believe Christians can discuss important issues without acrimonious debate. We will seek to better understand each other, even when we may never agree. Rev. Dr. Margie Crawford will be our facilitator for both events. The United Methodist Church General Conference is May in Portland, Oregon. The May 13 date is near the beginning of the conference, and gives us the opportunity to pray for the decisions that will be made there. It is an important time in the life of the United Methodist Church as many challenges face the denomination. There will be prayer requests specifically for the General Conference and also for this church, the community of Midland, the state of Michigan, the United States, and the world. Signup sheets are on Pastor Yum s office window and include opportunities to sign up for 30 or 45 minute time slots in the Chapel, in your home, or wherever you are. If you are praying from home or someplace else, please call Teri in the church office, ext. 120, and give her the time when you will be praying. Your name will be added to the list. HST FAIIES EEDED The Midland-Handa City, Japan Sister City Committee is seeking Midland families who are interested in hosting a visiting high school student from Handa City this summer. Families are asked to host a teen for one week during his/her stay in Midland, to provide lodging, meals, and local transportation. Families are also invited to participate in several group recreational and cultural events for all visitors and their host families during the students three week visit, July 23 - August 11.
