1 New Year s Eve Worship 6:00 p.m. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ (he is) a new creation. (II Corinthians 5:17a, ESV) PRELUDE: Love Divine, All Loves Excelling arr. Alfred Fedak OFFERTORY: God Shall Wipe Away All Tears" from The Light of the World Sir Arthur Sullivan, arr. Neil Jenkins The Lord is risen; he will dwell with men, and they shall be his people! And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. There shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, Neither shall there be any more pain, For the former things are passed away. 'Behold I make all things new,' saith the Lord, For the former things are passed away. Bonnie Hoyt Lynch, soprano SCRIPTURE LESSON: Revelation 21:5 (Pew Bible, page 1041) CALL TO WORSHIP Mr. Wilkes SERMON: Making Things New Dr. Derek W.H. Thomas + HYMN 30: Our God, Our Help in Ages Past ST. ANNE Trinity Hymnal (blue hymnal) + HYMN 251: Beneath the Cross of Jesus ST. CHRISTOPHER Trinity Hymnal + PRAYER OF INVOCATION + THE APOSTLES CREED I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost; born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven; and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. + DOXOLOGY TALLIS CANON Trinity Hymnal, no. 732 Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; praise him above, ye heavenly host: praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. PRESENTATION OF OFFERINGS CORPORATE PRAYER OF CONFESSION Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; According to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned And done what is evil in your sight, So that you may be justified in your words And blameless in your judgment. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, And take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, And uphold me with a willing spirit. ASSURANCE OF PARDON WORDS OF INSTITUTION PRAYER Mr. Squires (From Psalm 51)
