CONFIRMATION FOR 8 TH GRADERS! That s right! Midland First United Methodist Church will be moving Confirmation from 7 th grade to 8 th grade. This will give students another year to grow in their faith before going into the class. What does this mean for you? If you have a 7 th grader this coming school year, they will wait until they are in 8 th grade to go through Confirmation classes at church. If you have an 8 th grader this coming school year who has not gone through Confirmation, in the fall of 2016 there will be a High School option as well. LOONS BASEBALL GAME DISTRICT FELLOWSHIP NIGHT THURSDAY, JULY 30 DOORS OPEN AT 5 PM GAME STARTS AT 7 PM Come early for a tour of the stadium and meet the players. Join us through September 30 as we study the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7). Pastoral staff, together with lay speakers, will lead us through 18 different topics that will engage and enlighten our understanding of how we should live a life of His Kingdom in this world. Come, and let your spirit be nourished through this special study of Christ s sermon on the Mount. SUMMER MONDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY will be studying Old Testament Characters. We will meet on selected Mondays from 9:30-11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The summer session is designed for three short term courses to provide easy come-and-go attendance. All are Welcome! 3 VOLUME 41, ISSUE 28 WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS July TREKKERS TRIP Breckenridge Wind Farm Thursday, July 30 The Gratiot County Wind Farm has 133 wind turbines scattered over more than 30,000 acres. It's the largest wind farm in Michigan. The tour will be given by DTE Energy and will last approximately 1 1/2 hours. There is no cost for the tour. Please plan to meet at 9:00 a.m. in the Larkin Street parking lot. We will be carpooling and plan to pull out at 9:15. Following the tour, we will have lunch at Anschutz Café in Breckenridge. Ghost Boy by Martin Pistorius - In 1988 Martin, age 12, fell inexplicably sick. First he lost his voice and stopped eating, then he slept constantly and shunned human contact. Doctors were mystified, and within 18 months he was mute and wheelchair-bound. Martin's parents were told an unknown degenerative disease left him with less than two years to live.
