And, it s your gifts that make it possible for UMCOR to use 100% of all other contributions on the projects our donors specify, instead of on administrative or fundraising costs. UMCOR does not receive United Methodist World Service or apportionment funds, so without your offerings, UMCOR would not exist. One Great Hour of Sharing is Sunday, March 6. Midland FUMC will be sending $1 per church member from the missions budget to celebrate One Great Hour Sharing. This is another way that your pledge makes it possible for the United Methodist Church to be ready to serve. Your individual gifts to One Great Hour of Sharing and UMCOR appeals are also always welcome. Where do the homeless go? Who provides support and care? In Midland County, 13% of all households are living in poverty. In addition, 19% of Midland households cannot afford to live in Midland. They are known as the working poor and live in survival mode, only one emergency away from financial disaster. Please join a lively discussion about the housing issues of Midland County and the challenges, trends, and solutions that accompany them. Representatives from five area agencies will each present their mission, services, and plans for the future with regard to addressing homelessness issues. Those representatives will be: Sharon Mortensen, President/CEO Midland Area Community Foundation Nancy Money, Executive Director, Midland Area Homes Kirsti Carlsen, Affordable Housing Alliance Renee Pettinger, Executive Director, Midland s Open Door Mission and Mercy House John Congleton, New Hope Village Page 2

March 9 - Midland FUMC Praise Band: Come enjoy a night of music with our Praise Band. The group will present an eclectic mix of old favorites and new music.

March 16 - Chancel Choir, Wesley Women, Wesley Men: The Chancel Choir, Wesley Women and Wesley Men will present a program on prayer.

They ll cover everything from bluegrass to jazz. Children are encouraged to join us and sit with their families. March 16 - Chancel Choir, Wesley Women, Wesley Men: The Chancel Choir, Wesley Women and Wesley Men will present a program on prayer. Anthems, solos and congregational hymns will be interspersed with Biblical and other textual perspectives on prayer. Cost: $13 per lane/per hour; $1 for shoes; $10 large, one-topping pizza; $4 pitchers of pop. This organization focuses on traveling to the poorest hardest-to-reach communities of the world where people are considered "oral learners" like areas in Africa and India.

5 VOLUME 42, ISSUE 10 WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS March 6, 2016 MISSION AREA UPDATE ON T4 GLOBAL MINISTRIES One mission area that FUMC supports is Kenaga's Ministry at T4 Global Ministries. T4 Global stands for Translating the Truth through Trusted conversations and stories that can be distributed by appropriate Technology. This organization focuses on traveling to the poorest hardest-to-reach communities of the world where people are considered "oral learners" like areas in Africa and India. T4 Global trains trusted nationals who speak English and the people's mother tongue to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to bring in clean water and teach important health facts about sanitation, hygiene, and infectious diseases plus valuable information about agriculture. Solar powered MP3 and MP4 players are used to share Biblical stories, songs and dramas and biblical truth in their mother tongue, and to teach other important life skills about clean water and health. A Pastor Development Program has also been developed to teach local pastors to minister to their own Body in these countries John & Hazel Currie Memorial Concert Friday, May 20 7:00 pm Midland Center for the Arts Featuring: Steve Green Free tickets will be available in late April or early May. More details to come. Saginaw Rescue Mission: Hockey + Tailgate Party = Fun & Help for the Homeless! Saturday, March 12 Tailgate Party: 6:00 pm Saginaw Spirit Hockey Game: 7:00 pm Tickets: $12 - cost includes a praise concert by Frankenmuth Bible Church, dessert and beverage, light stick, and Spirit Hockey game. These school supplies will be made into kits at the Midwest Mission Distribution Center, and will be sent to children in need around the world. Please help us make a difference in the lives of children all over the world! There will be donation boxes located on the window ledge by the office, as well as in the children s classrooms. Kit Contains: 3 spiral, 1 subject notebooks (8 x 10 1/2 ) 3 pens (blue or black) 3 unsharpened pencils 1 pencil sharpener 1 pencil eraser 2 or larger 1 ruler 12 long with metric 1 protractor 6 long with metric 1 box of 24 crayons 1 pair of round tip scissors (no plastic scissors) Donation Guidelines All items must be NEW and not washed. It is important that kits contain only the requested items. All items must be free of advertising, religious, patriotic, military or camouflage symbols. No hand prints, foot prints or paw prints. Sympathy and prayers for two of our church families: for Chuck and Bethany Goodman, Nick, Abby, Elijah and Hannah Goodman on the death of Mildred Goodman, Chuck s mother, Nick s grandmother and Elijah and Hannah s great grandmother, on February 16. (Mildred was 102 years old.) for Beth and Carl VonHinken on the death Carl s father, Frederick H. VonHinken, Jr. of Roscommon, on February 17.
