1 A NEW WELCOME You may have no ced this weekend a new welcome at the beginning of some Masses. With all the new parishioners who are joining CCASTA, we o en hear how challenging it is to connect as a new person. So we will begin this weekend as part of our new gree ng, having people say hello to those around them to build community and help you get to know your fellow parishioners. We will begin to do this over the next few weeks at all the Masses, reminding all of us that we are the Body of Christ, the Church and helping us build and develop community. -Fr. John -Fr. John Several years ago, in a talk to novices from his order, Fr. Michael Gaitley confessed that his devo on to Mary Immaculate had go en "dry" and needed a "jumpstart." "The prayers of novices are powerful, so please pray for me," he requested. It had been a long day. He sensed that some of the novices were ge ng fidgety. "Guys," he said, Humbled by God s mercy, we seek to follow Christ and live the joy of the Gospel through love and service. -Mission Statement
2 Liturgical Calendar: September 12 th The Most Holy Name of Mary September 13 th St. John Chrysostom- Bishop and Doctor of the Church September 14 th The Exalta on of the Holy Cross September 15 th Our Lady of Sorrows "this is serious." At that moment, an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe that had hung for years on the wall of the retreat house where they were mee ng, fell with a crash and broke. The novices gasped. Point taken. They must have dedicated many prayers for Fr. Michael's inten- ons because a month later, he woke up with a fully formed idea of how to inspire Marian devo on to a degree he had never imagined. He spent that en re day wri ng, the evening reading and researching, and slept very li le. He spent the following nine days on an iden cal schedule. The result is the book by Marian Press tled 33 Days to Morning Glory: A Do-It-Yourself Retreat in Prepara on for Marian Consecra on. Fr. Michael says wri ng the book has resulted in many graces, including reviving his own Marian zeal and firing up others to a greater love for Mary. Simply, by means of Marian consecra on, we give ourselves to Mary to be formed into the image of her Son, Jesus. Saint Louis de Mon ort described total consecra on to Jesus through Mary as "the surest, easiest, and most perfect means" to becoming a saint. Beginning October 25th on Thursday evenings in St Augus ne Hall. Fr. John will lead us in the study and prepara on for total consecra on to Jesus through Mary. On December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Concep on, he will celebrate that consecra on at a special Mass. If you would like to know more, or sign up to register and purchase materials, go to Our Prayer Inten on in September: Prayer is essen al to becoming a missiondriven, ac ve parish. So please pray with us! Page 2
