1 December 17, US Catholic Bishops on People with Disabilities All Are Welcome Here at CCASTA, we are always striving to grow in our welcome and inclusiveness of those who are differently-abled. Physical and emotional challenges shouldn t be hindrances to the sacraments or to fellowship in our church. Michele Poligardo, Director of Special Needs Faith Formation has these tips for including our special needs brother & sisters: Some people struggle to get to or sit through Mass. For some people getting through the doors at Mass is one of the largest hurdles they may face for the day. Be compassionate and know that we are all in different places on our faith journeys. -Fr. John Williamson Please take note of the Christmas Schedule that is included in this bulletin. With Christmas falling on a Monday, there are changes to the normal Sunday Masses on Dec. 24th, so please take note of the reduced Mass schedule for the 4th Sunday of Advent, which also happens to be Christmas Eve. If you see a parent struggling with a child s behavior, please be kind. Offer a friendly smile or a helping hand. Often the way one is looked at by other members of the church can make or break their church experience. If you see a person physically struggling to get in, hold open a door or offer to carry something (know that they may say no thank you. ) Please move toward the center of the pew. Often people with small children or persons Humbled by God s mercy, we seek to follow Christ and live the joy of the Gospel through love and service. Mission Statement

It makes trips out of the pew easier on everyone. If you see a person exhibiting unusual behavior, understand that it may be a sign of a disability. Remember that we are all created in God s image and likeness. See the person as a child of God. We all have different ways of receiving and sharing God s love. A warm smile, nod, handshake or other act of kindness can be what makes someone feel welcome in our church. Please extend that courtesy to everyone you meet. Register with bob@ccasta.org by December 18, Service At Our Daily Bread JANUARY 18, 2018 The group departs at 8:30 am from Ascension and returns before 1:30 pm. Ten volunteers are needed contact Diane Dingle at dinglebdf@msn.com to reserve your spot. From December 18 to 26, we are partnering again with St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church to staff Howard County s Cold Weather Shelter for the homeless at St. John s church hall at 8220 Old Montgomery Road. Operated in partnership with Howard County government, Grassroots, and the faith community, the Shelter needs volunteers to provide transportation, meals, activities, and a warm, welcoming environment to homeless individuals and families over the holiday. 4 When Winter Weather Is Headed Our Way CCASTA follows the county schools in regard to weather. When Baltimore County OR Howard County schools open 2 hours late, we will have morning Mass and the parish offices will open at the normal time. When Baltimore County OR Howard County schools are closed, we will not have morning Mass and all other parish activities will be cancelled. The parish offices will open at 11:30 AM (weather permitting.) If Baltimore County OR Howard County schools have early dismissal because of weather issues, all evening parish activities will be cancelled. ON WEEKENDS Please check the website or Flocknote for closings. Complimentary Calendars 2018 Calendars will be available in the back of church today, December Remember your deceased relatives and friends with a Christmas memorial donation of $10 towards the purchase of Christmas flowers for the Church. (Envelopes are available in the vestibule of the churches. Ascension Memorial envelopes are included in your monthly envelope packet.) Return the envelopes through the collection with names you wish remembered. All the Christmas Masses will be offered for those names and for our parishioners. Don t miss a chance to be rescued by Jesus! Join us for our 20 th annual VBS! July 9-13, 2018 Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus Last year we made robots and this year we re making boats!
