2 AUGUST 7, 2016 NINETEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Pastors Message: This weekend s Gospel follows up on the Gospel from last weekend about making sure our treasure and hearts are set on the right thing. This weekend s Gospel Jesus encourages us to give alms so that we can have an inexhaustible treasure in heaven that can never be taken away from us. The Scriptures tell us that when we give alms that is a deposit in an account in heaven that can never be lost or taken. All the things of the world that we strive and work so hard for we do not take with us when we die, but our good works we do. When we all stand before God for judgment our investments, cars, houses, wealth and power will not be there, but our generosity, good works and care for the poor will! Since that is the case should we not set our hearts and attention on what is going to really matter the most in the long run? So as a result, the choir will be relocating to the first pews by the organ. You will notice the chairs are being removed( they will be kept for large celebrations where we need to have the choir up there, and serving double duty in the meeting room in the parish center) We will also be building a wall to match what is behind the presider s chair to add symmetry as well as hide the organ and sound equipment. -We are still awaiting the finalized drawings from the Architect that will then go on display. Once those are back we can then begin the process of bidding out to contractors to then set a date to begin the renovation. -We have had one gift come in of $5000, and many people verbally commit their support but are still in need of $35,000 to begin in the fall so please make your pledges/support soon! -We did order the new Altar and Pulpit this week through the generosity of 2 donors who have come forward. They will take several months to complete, but we should have them by Christmas.

Federal privacy laws prevent hospitals from giving visiting clergy access to patient information without the patients permission. This Monthly Prayer Intention comes from Fr. John and the Staff and asks all of us to pray for the success of the various aspects of our mission as a parish family. Prayer is essential to our success of being a mission driven active parish since God ultimately touches and changes hearts to make people mission driven Disciples of Christ. By prayer we can all contribute to the mission of our parish family, so please participate!
