We are a busy, family-friendly church and part of the iocese of Leeds. Our parish vision is to see our young people as active and valued members of the Parish, to encourage them to develop their potential and enhance their life chances through dedication to Christ and a commitment to the Catholic Faith. As well as running many activities within our Parish we are outward looking, aiming to be active in our local community. We are also members of Churches Together in Otley. We have many active groups within our parish such as a thriving Youth Club, Children s Liturgy, a Parish Social Club, a communications group that produces a parish magazine, Knights of St. Columba and the St. Vincent de Paul Society, including a Youth SVP in St Mary s Secondary School in Menston, and a Mini-Vinnies in St Joseph s Primary School. Parish members have also been instrumental in working with other Churches, reaching out to socially disadvantaged areas of Otley and seeking opportunities to share our Faith, including with our Youth Club. We, of course, have strong links with our Catholic schools: our Primary School, St Joseph s and our Secondary School at nearby Menston, St Mary s. Our Parish Youth Worker is expected to lead worship and catechise in school, especially meeting pupils at St Mary s, and also help provide courses and education for the sacraments with groups for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Are you a committed and enthusiastic Catholic? Have you the skills and experience to inspire and lead young people? At Our Lady and All Saints Catholic Church, Otley near Leeds, we want to place young people at the heart of the parish. In partnership with the iocese of Leeds we are looking to appoint a part time Parish Youth Ministry Worker for a one year fixed term contract. You will have the opportunity to lead and further develop youth work in our lively parish. You must have a passion for working with young people and share the vision of deepening the faith and relationship of our young people with Our Lord Jesus Christ. You will be supported by the parish Youth Management Group and iocesan Youth Service to offer wider opportunities for diocesan, national and international based missions and retreat programmes for and with young people. You will be a self starter with the ability to work both as part of a team and on your own initiative, at times by yourself. Accommodation is not provided. 4 Parish Youth Worker Terms and conditions of employment Responsible to: The Youth Management Group of Our Lady and All Saints Parish, in liaison with the Parish Priest and the iocesan Youth Co-ordinator mployed by: The iocese of Leeds Working with: The young people of the parish, parish youth volunteers, schools and chaplains and iocesan Youth Service Location: Salary: xpenses: Holiday: The post holder will be based in the parish in Otley, though some travel will be required around the iocese. 10,000 pa (actual) for 20 hours per week contract Work related expenses in line with iocesan policy and practices 13.5 days plus Bank Holidays Working Commitment: This is a fixed term contract for one year offered as a part time role, 20 hours per week. The post holder is expected to be flexible and will be required to work some evenings and weekends to meet the reasonable requirements of the role. Notice Period: One month Pension: Contract: To be arranged The contract of employment will be with the Trustee of the iocese of Leeds. The post holder must have the right to reside and work in the UK. Policies: The post holder is required to abide by the policies of the iocese of Leeds in respect of both employment and the delivery of service to the Catholic community. Safeguarding: The iocese is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young persons and ensures that the highest priority is given to safeguarding children and young people. 5 Job escription Roles & responsibilities To encourage and enable our young people to develop a personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ To encourage young people to take an active role in the Parish s life and worship To be a welcoming and stimulating presence in the Parish, a positive and mature Christian role model and an inspiring leader to the young people To build positive relationships with the young people in our Parish To work with and encourage volunteers and parishioners supporting youth provision To take responsibility for the Parish Youth events including sacramental preparation and Faith In Action awards, always seeking opportunities for faith sharing and catechesis To work with the parish priest and lay chaplains in our local Catholic schools To liaise with the iocesan Youth Service to enable young parishioners to take part in events and activities, within and beyond the iocese as well as engaging with iocesan Youth Service training, networking and resource sharing To organise and effectively prepare and deliver regular youth events within the parish for young people aged years old To report to the Parish Youth Management Group on progress evelop effective forms of communication including websites, social media and printed media to effectively communicate with young people of the Parish ngage in professional development and training as required including spiritual formation, safeguarding and health and safety requirements To fulfil any other responsibilities deemed appropriate and reasonable by the employer

7 ear applicant, It s a particularly exciting time for the iocese of Leeds youth services. We are in the midst of developing a new youth service strategy across our parishes and schools and are delighted when parishes are able to make appointments to further the youth provision they provide. Bishop Marcus s letter outlines our mission. Knowing and loving Our Lord Jesus Christ, accepting the graces He freely gives to us in the Sacraments of the Church, and understanding how faith in Him can make a real impact for good in our lives and in the society in which we live, is at the centre of the Church s mission in education. It is this vision which I wish to see at the heart of the strategy for the future provision of Catholic education and youth services within the iocese of Leeds. The Faith in Action Award scheme is a big part of our work in the coming years and promises to be a great way of providing on-going formation, fellowship and catechesis within the parish and school communities from the ages of years.
