2 News & Notes From the desk of Father Rob. In Gratitude for Service: After more than three decades of service, our bookkeeper Kathy Fisher will be stepping down. She has seen many changes over the years. Through all those changes, Kathy has been a valuable person to countless people and priests, including myself. At the end of this week, Kathy will retire. She will not be leaving the parish just starting a new chapter of her life. If you see Kathy, please thank her for all her time and talent that she has given all these years. Fourth of July Mass: Next week Tuesday is our Independence Day. With all that is going on in our lives, we do tend to forget how blessed we truly are. We are free to cross state lines without being inspected. We are able to worship freely in public compared to other Christians in other countries. We are blessed with material wealth. The blessings are endless. Being in this country is what makes all these things possible. Please join us for Mass next On Tuesday, July 4th, to give thanks to God for all His blessings and ask for his blessings to be continually poured out on our nation. Visiting Priest Here This Weekend: Father Dennis Martin will be celebrating all the Masses this weekend. Father Dennis represents Unbound, a ministry that works with children and the elderly. They were at St. Mary s several years ago and will be returning to share what they do and how we can help. I am gone on vacation getting some much needed rest. Please welcome Fr. Dennis to our parish! Have a blessed week! Any questions regarding our Traveling Chalice program may be directed to: Colleen at OR Sacraments Anointing of the Sick: Scripture Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time "Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father's knowledge. Even all the hairs of your head are counted. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." - Mt 10:29-31 ************************************************************** "Even all the hairs of your head are counted. So do not be afraid." Can it really be true? Is our heavenly Father actually so aware of us? Does the Creator of the universe pay that much attention to me? Jesus says yes. God knows us far more intimately than we even know ourselves. And so, we have nothing to fear. Being Christian isn't guaranteed to be easy. More and more even in our own culture, following the faith is being criticized and discouraged in the public square. Privately, we may struggle with the demands of the commandments or the ability to believe when we face the inevitable trials that come our way. But passages like this one in today's Gospel are a source of tremendous hope and consolation. We are loved beyond measure. We enjoy the care and concern of God in every situation, big and small. Truly we have no need to worry or be anxious because God is in control. For our part, of course, Jesus asks us to trust him and stay faithful. He asks us not to apologize for our faith, especially publicly. "Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father." When we live our faith with confidence, it's a way of accepting the power and providence of God. But when we try to hide our faith away because we're afraid of causing problems, we only damage our relationship with the One who can actually solve them. At the end of the day, the only really serious problem we need to worry about is losing our soul-and that, to be sure, is up to us. As the great French novelist Le on Bloy wrote, "There is only one tragedy in the end: not to have been a saint." Infant Baptism: Registered members of the parish are welcome to arrange for their baby s baptism by signing up for the necessary preparation program for parents. REMINDER: If you, a family member or someone you know is confined or hospitalized and would benefit from a pastoral visit, please contact your parish office and let them know. Staff does not always know of hospital admissions for a variety of reasons and often has no way of knowing of other situations in which a parish contact would be beneficial.
