In the Rosary, with its sequences of prayers and mysteries, we contemplate the Gospel in company with the Blessed Virgin Mary. As St. Pope John Paul II wrote in 2002, the Rosary is a prayer loved by countless Saints and encouraged by the Magisterium. Simple yet profound, it still remains, at the dawn of this third millennium, a prayer of great significance, destined to bring forth a harvest of holiness With the Rosary, the Christian people sits at the school of Mary and is led to contemplate the beauty on the face of Christ and to experience the depths of his love. Through the Rosary the faithful receive abundant grace, as though from the very hands of the Mother of the Redeemer (Rosarium Virginis Marie, 1). LITURGUCAL MINISTERS: Please turn in your special requests for the December - February scheduling period by Monday, November 6 th. There is a special form for this period and it includes the mass you would like to minister at for Christmas. Also masses for the 4 th Sunday in Advent will be on Saturday, December 23 rd at 4:30pm and Sunday, December 24 th at 9:30am. Please indicate on the form any special request for those masses. The Special Request Forms can be found in the St. Joseph s room or you can fill out the form online at: olqpgrafton.org/em-request-form. Congratulations to Scott Grueser & Kayleigh Kushner who were married last weekend. May their love continue to grow and reflect the love of God for us. Congratulations to Matthew and Sarah Pasadyn whose son Leo Stephen was baptized last weekend. May he grow as a son of God with the support and witness of our parish community. SPOT LIGHT: Our spotlight ministry this weekend will be Our Lady s Guild. The Ladies of the Guild will be in the Gathering Area discussing their ministry and giving more information. Stop by if you are interested in becoming a member of the Guild. Next weekends spotlight will be the Knights of Columbus.

Each week you are invited to write out something that you are thankful for on a post-it note and place it on the white board in the Gathering Area.

The Living Rosary is this Thursday at 7:00pm in the church. Members of the various ministries in the parish will be the beads of the rosary and leading us in the recitation of the prayers.

The Gratitude Board is meant to be a place where we can celebrate the blessings of God. This is not a prayer intention board where you write your prayer requests but a place where we give thanks for the blessings in the lives of one another. As we celebrate Mission Sunday this weekend we can become overwhelmed about how we can make a difference in the face of the sorrow, pain and evil in the world. Coming together on Thursday to pray the rosary can be one way of living out our missionary call as disciples of Jesus. As we are praying the rosary we will be praying for the intention of peace. We will be praying for peace for the families whose lives have been drastically changed through the death of loved ones and destruction of homes due to hurricanes, earthquake and now forest fires that have been hitting our part of the world. In addition we will be praying for peace for those whose lives are being threatened everyday due to civil wars, famines and terrorism that has become a daily event for those living in Africa and the Middle East as well in so many other parts of the world. Prayer is a vital component of our response to be missionaries and something that everyone regardless of age can do. I hope to see you Thursday. EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION: The diocesan training for those interested in being commissioned to distribute the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass and to the sick will be taking place soon. Those seeking to become Eucharistic Ministers need to attend a diocesan training session as well as an orientation session in the parish. The options for training sessions close by are: Sunday, October 22 St. Martin of Tours Parish 1800 Station Rd. Valley City; 2:00-4:30pm ST. ELIZABETH CENTER: Catholic Charities new St. Elizabeth Center has opened at 2726 Caroline Ave. Lorain. It houses a 50-bed year round overnight men s shelter, congregate hot meal program, a choice pantry, Community Connections and case management services. For more than 30 years Catholic Charities has been providing food and shelter to the area. The Lorain Family Center (aka 8 th Street) and the St. Joseph Shelter have been a caring and comforting haven for the homeless and needy. $1, was collected by the Confirmation Candidates and has been forwarded to this shelter. Thank you for your generosity. Bishop Perez will officially dedicate the St. Elizabeth Center on Tuesday, October 31 st. REMEMBERING THOSE WHO HAVE DIED: In the Church, the month of November is traditionally the month to remember the dead in a special way. Mark your calendars and plan to join in prayer for those who have died and for those who are grieving their death. ALL SAINTS: The Solemnity of All Saints is Wednesday, November 1 st. Masses at 9:00am & 7:00pm. ALL SOULS: We will be remembering all those who have died, especially those who have died in the past year with mass, on Thursday, November 2 nd at 7:00pm in the church. CEMETERY SERVICE: There will be a prayer service at St. Mary Cemetery at 2:00pm on Sunday, November 5 th. We will be remembering in prayer all those buried at the parish cemetery as well as all our beloved dead. In case of inclement weather we will hold the prayer service in the chapel. NOVEMBER MASSES: During the month we will be remembering at all the Masses those who are listed in the parish Book of the Dead. There will be an opportunity to add the names of your loved ones who have died to the book beginning November 1 st.

Any child grade 4 and up and any adult who is interested in becoming an altar server, our first class will be on Saturday, October 28 th from 9:00am - 11:00am. Trainees will attend three classes with a fourth optional if additional training is needed. Classes are October 28 th, November 4 th, November 11 th and November 18 th (if needed). YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY: will have a meeting on Saturday, November 4 th at 10:00am in room 2 of the parish hall. This is a new ministry and all young adults 21 to 35 are invited to attend. LADIES' NIGHT OUT: The committee members are asking for donations of gift cards and new items that can be put in raffle baskets for our November 11 th event. All donations are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off in the Parish Office during normal business hours through October or call the office to arrange pickup of items.
