THOMAS: Bishop Daniel Thomas asks for continued prayers from you, the faithful of the Diocese of Cleveland, as he fulfills his duties as Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese, while maintaining his role as Bishop of Toledo. He also asks for your understanding and patience as scheduling changes of events will be necessary. Please remember Bishop Richard Lennon in your prayers and continue to pray that a new bishop will be assigned to the Diocese of Cleveland in the near future. FROM SISTER KATHLEEN: Dear Parishioners: Thank you for an overwhelming send-off last week. It touched my very being to see so much love from so many people. I pray that you all will or have experienced such goodness. I know you have been sent it, because Fr. John is our pastor. Yes, it is each of you letting God move through you that brings us together each week. We not only need God, but we need one another to strengthen our faith. Thank you for being that for me. Thank you especially for the gifts of "you" and all your generous remembrance. LET US KNOW if you or a loved one is in the hospital, nursing home or is homebound. Due to privacy laws institutions are not able to let us know unless you give them permission and even then we don t always get the notification. And if you would like to visit parishioners that are homebound or in a nursing facility please contact the parish office for more information. SPOTLIGHT MINISTRY: This weekend the Comfort Cap Ministry will be featured in the Gathering Area after all masses. Please stop by their table and see how the Comfort Cap Ministry helps those suffering from cancer. They will also be having a sewing day on February 23 rd from 4:00pm - 8:00pm and February 24 th from 9:00am - 4:00pm. Dust off your sewing machine, needle and thread and ironing board and make time to come and help make these caps, as well as pillows, for those who are undergoing treatments for cancer. Next weekend we will be featuring the Holy Name Society.

2 The 7 th Sunday in Ordinary Time Page 3 OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE PASTORS CORNER: I wish to thank Betty DeAngelis, Robin Duplaga and Rick Gallaher who put together the Community Family Class this past Sunday. This class for parents as well as all parishioners was an interactive, intergenerational learning experience during the regular scheduled faith formation classes. The hall was abuzz with activity as there were a number of stations that everyone rotated through learning a different aspect about harmony and community. Take a look at the work done in one of the stations that is now posted in the Gathering Area. Betty, Robin and Rick put a lot of time and energy in planning this day. They made learning about our faith and how to work at strengthening the bonds of community fun. It is great to see such talent being used in the community and it was great to see the adults learning side by side with the children and youth. Since last summer Grace Ogonek has been adjusting to her role as Parish Catechetical Leader. She has been focused on making sure that everyone who works with our youth are up to date and fulfilling all the requirements of the Diocese regarding the protection of our children. From VIRTUS training, background checks and compliance with the new Standards of Conduct, Grace has been busy. In addition, she is working on a catechetical plan for the parish that includes the sacramental programs, religion classes for the youth, as well as adult education. As you can imagine all of this has been taking up much time and this is only a part time position! She is also working with the RCIA which brings me to the next point. I have had numerous people ask me if there will be a replacement for Sr. Kathleen now that she has moved on to ministry at her Motherhouse. At this time I am not looking for another Pastoral Minister to replace her. Her role with the RCIA has been handed over to Grace. I am currently looking for Eucharistic Ministers who are willing to take communion to the homebound on a weekly basis as Sister did. If you are interested please let me know. No one can replace Sister. What she did best was to listen and comfort and bring hope. And she was great at empowering others to get involved. She has left us a witness on how to live and interact as a faith community. So no, we are not replacing Sr. Kathleen but we are all called to pick up where she left off and to continue the work she started. Fr. John ASH WEDNESDAY Masses with distribution of Ashes will be at 9:00am and 7:00pm. Ash Wednesday is March 1 st. LITURGICAL MINISTERS are needed for Ash Wednesday masses. Please sign up in the St. Joseph room or call the parish office. Also the new schedules for March - May are in the St. Joseph s room. Please pick one up before you leave today. One of the significant issues that a person faces is their place in the Church. Does the Church still care about me even though I am divorced? Am I allowed to go to Mass? Can I receive communion? How can the Church help me heal? If I decide to marry again, what do I have to do? The Tribunal of the Diocese of Cleveland offers its First Step Program to help individuals deal with these questions in order to renew and/or strengthen their relationship with God and the Church. In any endeavor, taking the first step is always the most difficult. The First Step Program helps individuals to navigate the path of healing and closure. And that when we are gathering in the church, we are members of the Kingdom of God and the cross of Christ is our banner. In addition to the purchase of the flags, the Knights of Columbus distributed seed packets on World Marriage Sunday last week. Their annual Lenten Fish Fries will begin the first Friday of Lent and it is through the money they raise that they are able to purchase items for the parish. Thank you for your service to the parish. 40 DAYS FOR LIFE: From March 1 st through April 9 th, you re invited to join other Christians for 40 Days for Life 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion.
